Cold as Ice (Quest from Sif in Sifhalla)
Hi Everyone
I am trying to get the skill "i am unstoppable" and it seems impossible to beat the griffon!! i have tried several different build combo's and nothing..i barely do any damage to him.. I have heard several people say things like get some health Degeneration skills (conjure nightmare, conjure phantasm) And i have tried these skills in combo with other derv skills.. and i still get NO-where.. i simply don't do enough damage, fast enough before his spirits kill me.. I'm breaking down and heading down the route toward getting the SOS ritualist build but i was wondering if anyone had builds they KNOW work for the quest --since the derv update? Thanks for any help you can offer |

You should be able to kill the griffin relatively easily with mesmer degen.
Are you kiting and healing while doing this? |

My Nec simply took Aura of the Lich, Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support, Barbs and a 5k ping. The griffon didn't stand a chance in HM.
My Assassin took; Jagged Strike, Fox Fangs, Death Blossom, Way of the Assassin, Critical Defenses, Critical Eye, Way of Perfection, Assassin's Remedy You could consider Asuran Scan over Assassin's Remedy. No idea what I would use on a Derv. Could just try out a standard Pious Renewal bar or possibly an EDA bar with Asuran Scan. Rits get it easy because SoS spirit spam is lol. As a Mesmer I might try Echo, AEcho, EVAS, possibly with Barbs and some form of energy management. Might try something similar as an Ele too (sans Barbs obviously). Not sure about a Warrior. Hammer KDs might be a good idea. Ranger and Paragon... eugh. |

It's been a while, but if I recall, I used a Ranger (primary or secondary), a couple of spirits (Toxicity?), some sort of poisoning and a a poisonous longbow - while standing "up the hill" - to eventually degen him to death. I think there is either a forum post here, about it, or on PvXwiki.

the main that you need to is STAY away from his spirits he will follow you around just keep degening him and he will die but if you get to within range of his spirits your toast

On my war, paragon, necro, and monk i basically took him down with "You Move Like A Dwarf", Ebon Sniper Support, and Signet of Infection. Kite him away from his spirits at all times. For rit i used SoS w/ Sniper Support & Sig of Infection. As a derv definately keep away from his spirits and maybe Avatar of Grenth, sand shards, and dust cloak?

three skills, hunters shot, poison tip sig, read the wind. keep read the wind up. Poisontip sig then Hunters shot it. Kite away, rinse and repeat on recharge. One poisoned Hunters shot at a time, he wont chase. Longbow for sure and high ground if possible. |

Aura of the Lich for me, complete with barbs. There's some nice wolf corpses already there to pop half a dozen minions.

tbh Spirits are the way to go. I also used Gaze of Fury - (which turns one of its spirits friendly!!)

Sorry to bump this thread but I just did the quest. All you really need are Animate Bone Minions and Barbs. The really is to BODY BLOCK him. He is programmed to cast a spirit and then take a few steps before casting another spirit. Jam yourself right up against his RIGHT SHOULDER before he goes hostile. He will literally just stand there the whole fight, the only damage dealt will be from the single spirit he was able to cast.
