No, if you want to play with a character, don't delete it. Why would they ask that if you were sure you wanted to delete a character, if you could get it back?

Small consolation: You can make new characters with your old characters' names if those names haven't been been taken by someone else.

Lot of the games allow you to restore them and in those games the confirmation dialog is only a convenience to prevent mis-clicks. I have read similar arguments so many times before, GW fans over-defensive I suppose. A player could always think a character is not needed any more and delete it, go through confirmation, and two days later realise that all the dyes are missing and they were on the deleted character.

Of course, the answer is no, but technically it IS possible, for a short amount of time. Data you delete on your computer doesn't go away, it becomes free space to be overwritten, but sometimes it might take a while before data is filled there so it can hang out for quite some time. The same is probably true about MMO databases, only, they have so many people that the data probably doesn't stay for too long before it is overwritten.
I believe other companies offer a restoration option in EXTREME circumstances, but they do not guarantee that the character will be the "same" when it's restored and they also mention that the window to restore is very, very small. |

Some games actually keep backups, they can restore characters that were deleted months ago. EVE has a decaying system where players themselves can restore a character before it is permanently deleted over a period of time.
