HM Profession?
I have been slowly playing GW again just on and off for awhile again. I wanted to know as of right now what class between, Assassin, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementist, and lastly Dervish. I just want to put some time into something that I can get through HM and have a little fun while I am at it.

All professions are able to handle hard mode, so select the profession you'll enjoy the most.

Ritualist. :-P But really, Elementalists are horrible in Hard Mode. I don't play an Assassin so I can't comment there, but Necromancers, Mesmers, and Dervishes are really good.
Choose whichever you find most enjoyable. |

It's a common misconception that eles are horrible in HM, but with the right build, they can be effective. Anything capable of using PvE skills is going to be effective in HM. It's true that nuking does little in HM, but Invoke Lightning is still a good skill. Toss some Arcane Echo in there and some utility skills and you got a decent build.
But, to more directly answer your question, any profession can do HM. Some are going to be more difficult than others, but every class is capable. Ritualist is going to be easiest, but probably the most boring. Necro is good and fun to play. Rangers are tough, but can be fun if you get creative, and blowing things up with melee is always fun. |

Honestly... the "badness" of elementalists in HM is somewhat exaggerated. Almost every air skill has armor penetration, and even builds that don't utilize ar penetrating skills (Savannah heat or SF for example) can do plenty of damage if used correctly (bring snares or multiple copies respectively).
With 7 heroes, general PvE in HM can be done relatively easily, so bring whichever profession you enjoy most. |

you now have 7 heroes which basically means you're playing a single player game on 'beginner' settings. choose w/e character you want. if you haven't played dervish since the new update on them i'd go with a derv.

Any profession should suffice since the build in any particular area encompasses an entire team. Really you can pick anywhere you like to be in the typical lineout and fill the rest of the places with something to balance out. It helps to bring a rit/necro/mes in most places so pick what you enjoy playing.
I've recently started playing my second dervish, first one since the new buildout and it's lots of fun. Rits, sins, eles, all fun to play. |

Any class can make it through HM. I would pick the one you enjoy playing the most and work on that one. If you want to work on others later, you can do that too.
