Warrior & PvP
I've been observing different pvp battles and while I've seen many of the different professions fight each other, I've only seen one battle with one warrior in it so far. He was the flag carrier and compared to other battles of other professions being an fc, he didn't last very long. Maybe he doesn't do well as a warrior, or maybe warriors don't do well in pvp in general from seeing the lack of warriors in other battles. I don't know, I'm just wondering how they do most of the time?

Dervishes made warriors extinct.

Basically the above.
You came in at a weird time. All those things you see dervishes doing right now in PvP? From two months ago to the start of the game, warriors were doing that. It used to be the dervish who had the place the warrior does now. But anet overbuffed them so much in the recent update that the dervish has (at least for now) replaced the warrior as the primary frontliner in PvP. |

Sadly all of the above is true.
Warriors WERE the major frontliners in PvP, especially GvG. Thanks to the buff A-Net gave the dervishes the warriors are almost extinct in GvG. In my eyes : that's a sad development. Though i agree the dervishes needed an update, they didn't just update them, they made them toooo darn good. Warriors are still used, but not (by far) at the level they used to be. The match u saw were a warrior was running the flag : Probability is that he WASN'T the flagrunner but that the team got so much pressure that they decided to keep the ritrunner at the mainteam to deal with the pressure and in that case one of the frontliners runs the flag. |

Warriors can be Used very well as most monks are not taking anti KD anymore as the mta derv doesnt use this. A good hammer war who is timing monks with spikes will prove great use to his team, also a Shocking axe when timed well these two could shut down heals for about 2 secs which is enuf(If organised) to spike or pissibly wipe a target.
But he was probs running the flag as your team needed extra heals so they sent him back instead! |

The problem in PvP for Wars (but for general balance too...) is the MASSIVE OPness of Dervs.

Warriors (such as myself) are currently obsolete for the time being. I'm enjoying my vacation.

Coming from playing warcraft, sounds like what happened when dks came out. Last I heard blizz screwed over warriors even more due to a patch not long ago.
Main reason why I asked is I'm looking for a class/profession to start out with. I want it to be a class that I will continue to play into GW2. I was thinking of playing a warrior before but I'm not so sure now. Seems like in general warriors are dying out. So far the only game I've actually enjoyed playing a warrior was in dragon age. |
