Combined hotkeys for skills? (alt+1 and so on)
So i wanted to combine my skills 4-8 to activate when pressing Alt+1, 2, 3 and 4. Clearly the options do not allow this.
It is kind of annoying to press the farthest buttons, i've always used alt+1, ctrl+1 for mmorpg's, most games have this integrated, so why not Guild wars? I tried F1, F2, F3, F4, but that's not very comfortable either. Any suggestions? Is there some kind of third party program that allows combined buttons to be used in GW? |

I just use different letters on my keyboard... this isn't wow where you have 20 thousand spells to bind and I highly doubt you're going to micro every one of your hero's spells so.

There are two programs to try.
http://www.autohotkey.com/ is the most commonly used. There is extensive documentation and a good user community. Can be a bit complex to learn. I have never used it with GW, but did write some simple applications for Torchlight 1. Should work well. The script can easily be set to have effect only when GW.exe is running. There are obscure "gotchas" when trying to assign keys to mouse buttons. http://qliner.com/hotkeys/overview.htm is an interesting possibility. Don't know whether it will pass the changes through to GW or not however. Important! Do not create any looping or repeating structures or you could get banned for botting! Reassigning keys or sequencing keys is ok, or at least so it would appear from previous discussions. |

Thank you, will check these out.
ruk1a i know, i just find it weird that the game allows only 1 button for a hotkey. What letters do you use? QWER? I guess that would work, but i'd still like to use WASD as movement keys. |

It could a be a lot of things. Some people swear by mouse moving (it's better for PvP) so they don't care about WASD. Perhaps try shuffling everything over to free up Q, A, and Z; i.e, WASD becomes ESDF, etc. You don't really need W and R so you could just ditch those and forget about skills 7 and 8. It's not like you'll need to be hitting them super quickly anyway.

Or Did you try using right-Alt with the number keys? (Although that's not likely to be convenient. ) I've run into these types of things with GW before though. It's possible that the ALT and/or CTRL keys are hard coded somewhere and can't be re-assigned. |

Yes but I keep W on default for running forward. V for rez. Anything else I bind is the first 1 or 2 spells on my hero bars to use what skills they are terrible at, prot spirit for example. I can't get rid of w, I double tap it for auto run for years now and am way too used to it lol.

Why don't you assign other ordinary keys to skills 5-8? I moved from WASD to ESDF and assigned the skills 7-8 to the keys T and G, so the skill keys are put around the movement keys. If you still want to use WASD, try to put skills 6-8 to R, F, V for example. Or use 1, 2, 3, 4, R, F, V, B. Move the old functionality from R, F, V, B to other keys - there are plenty of them. The more often they are used in combat, the nearer to the left hand I put them.

be careful what you use. last Last time i checked, anet detects some Macros as 3rd party. make sure, if you decide to use one, anet is okay with the program as in some cases, i.e. texmod.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think the RFV for skills 6-8 works for me well. I feel so stupid that i didn't think of this myself, guess i'm so stuck with the number method.
