Survivor Title in Pre
As the title suggests, I'm thinking about going for Survivor in pre searing, but was wondering about the vanguard quests. Do they stop being available to a character once that character has reached lvl 20 (LDOA), or do they keep giving them out?
And I was also wondering what professions does everyone prefer to use for this title? Thanks in advance for any help/advice =] |

You can still take the vanguard quests at level 20 in Pre-searing.
As for what profession is prefered - the one you like playing most. Why? Because you'll be spending a LOT of time playing that character grinding out the XP. Good Luck & have fun! |

I've been playing ranger, monk and mesmer in pre-searing. Mesmer was deffinetly my fav for vanguard quests + Charr slaying. I would advice that, but look at the skills and what you'll like the most. Seeing the quests give 1k xp each (right?) I would deffinetly go for what you like, since with 1 quest a day and (very) few monsters giving you the xp, it will take about 3.5y

I like my presear monk alot. It has been said multiple times, but choose a character you enjoy playing.
As for it taking a long time... Sure it takes a long time, but he will probably be grinding vanguard quest foes for exp, so he would be getting more than 1k/day, at least that's what I think. |

Hi there,
Pre searing to get the LDOA it should take about 20 hours gameplay the reason is, if you dont accept any rewards for quests just do the skill ones for the char you are playing. Just by walking to all the outposts you will be level 5 at least. Char at the gate quest just rinse and repeat till level 10 Vanguard quests they are repeatable by that you can do anyones outside northlands by simply doing the first 3 mobs and map back then rinse and repeat till the next daily is due then collect your 1k this works forall ones like killing 3 mobs just outside fort ranik mapping back ect. THEN once Level 16 do all the quests in your log as.....XP at level 16 is minimal so......this will push you to 17 then the xp gained fromm 17 to 20 is vastly increased. As far as choosing one tobe the best there is no difference really in what you choose so play a char you like... one example is take the ranger secondary as you can send in the pet to hold agro and be outside the agro circle. So all in all getting the title is not a long drawn out experiance like it was before like death leveling Dont worrry if you die as...you are going for Legendary Defender ..its so easy once you leave Pre to get survivor title once you have left there |

@ Highlander of Alba: he wants Legendary Survivor while staying in pre - not Defender. So no death leveling, just survive and do all daily quests. Huge commitment. 1.3 million or so XP from daily quests....

Huge commitment is an understatement - you should get a medal as well for doing it. |

*she* lol (it's ok guys...)
I understand that it'll be a while, but having had no computer for a while did take away time to grind. I have a monk almost up to lvl 8 now without dying (yet) and received "Charm Animal", but don't have a second prof yet. Currently farming Charr At The Gate along with the Rogue Bull and the River Drake. So is it best to get the rewards from quests at lvl 16? Curiously, does anyone happen to know (or have a link to somewhere that can tell me) what experience is needed for each levelling? Just curious.. |

R1 Survivor in pre is easy to get. Keep in mind that, in fact, you can die, as the new Survivor counts xp gained since the last death, only.
R3 in pre, however... is about 300h (+/- 30?) of killing the same mobs, over and over, not counting any AFK time, if you don't die in the meantime. If that doesn't bother you, take the quest Farmer Hamnet and keep killing bandits up till the cave (that's seven bandits, if i remember correctly), then /resign or map out and go again. |

Naturally choose the class you like best, but it is very incorrect to say they are all the same in pre. My advice would be no matter what class you choose, take elementalist as your secondary.
An Elementalist/monk will have the best healing abilities, which is good for survivor. Ele anything also has the highest damage with the exception of mesmer, which can take down a single boss (though not a mob) faster than ele. If you go with monk/ranger, your best damage would be from smiting prayers, which is somewhat trickier. |

So what would you suggest for my monk's second, Shady Guy? Go Elementalist? I'm kinda enjoying having the pet with me rather than the Fire Imp (summoning stone bonus thingo) which aggroes everything.
Thanks for that bit of advice drkn. One of my other chars is farming that at the moment too. |

I like the Imp because it is aggro crazy. I can walk into a mob, let my Imp kill them off, rinse and repeat. That's how I farm items for the daily gifts, let my imp do the work while I read or something.
