Hello all!
me and a friend just caught wind of GW2 and have started playing GW1 (trilogy) as a stop gap meassure till it's release. we've played prophecies til about lvl 8 with ra/w (her) mo/e (me) she wanted to be assassin though so we've now jumped to factions (good timing with the NY event =))... now we're about lvl 7 as/w, ra/w that's all in the last 3 nights game play... my main question is on pace, should we really be leveling so quickly? i've the read the wiki quite a bit and understand we'll be able to transfer across teh campaigns but how playable will they be? do missions/quests scale to the players? if we do hit 20 quickly how much content is there at that lvl? she's not really too fussed and just likes running round killing things, but for me the campaign stories are part of it all and basically i don't want to miss things out and then find when i go back it's far to easy (which will bore her) thanks for any insights =) |

Prophecies level much slower and the lvl 20 content comes much later.
Factions level faster, and the lvl 20 content comes much faster. Nightfall, level much faster and most of the lvl 20 content is on the "mainland" of Elona. No, the content does not scale to the character, per se. |

-GW1 does not put much stress on levelling. You are supposed to get to the max. level of 20 very quickly, and almost all of the game is adapted to max. level play. Max level in GW is like finishing school - "now the real life starts".
-Factions is a campaign known for very fast levelling - and a steep learning curve. Beware. You're likely to have few skills available and may need to remember to upgrade your armour (Kaineng is where you get your first suits of max. armor) -you will change campaigns at a point where you are supposed to be at or near max level, so you'll generally not have trouble from the transition. Prophecies characters will usually be a bit low on level, but they catch up fast. |

Getting max armor isn't dificult either. It's about getting the nice looking very armor that's costly. Capping elite skills isn't that dificult either. To me gw is about following the story and really just enjoy the game. The majority of the game is designed for a party of 8 lvl 20 players, so no worries!

However, getting most of the skills unlocked on a new account should take some time. |

who doesn't get excited about looking sharp! good to know the skills will provide some longevity, my main concern was running out of content and missing good story lines, but doesn't seem an issue.
"The majority of the game is designed for a party of 8 lvl 20 players, so no worries!" hmm, i think it's fairly unlikely we'll do anything but duo (she's quite intollerant of other players and only puts up with me cos i generally keep her alive and know how to read a map)... is that possible? we're getting by with henchmen atm and i understanf nightfall gives heros which are more controlable (akin to the pets we're already using). |

Unlocking all of the heroes to fill out your party takes some time as well, since most of them join you over the course of completing the campaigns.
Edit: It's totally possible to do with only two players. A lot of the game is being done with one player and seven heroes. |
