Default Best class to earn God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals solo?

I really don't mind any class, I've played quite a few. I was reading this guide and I need to make a new character to be able to earn the survivor title!

Now I have other characters I can farm on, so I don't need to worry about farming on this character. Keep in mind I really have enjoyed playing all classes so far, and I really don't mind the idea of starting over a class I've already played. None stick out to me, so I've decided I would prefer to go with the one that would be easiest.

Any advice appreciated.

Avoid monk and paragon. All others are fine really.

As with other thread, Assassin.

You don't need to make a new character to get Survivor. A-Net changed it so that dying doesn't disqualify a character from getting it. Dying just resets the XP counter and all you have to do is get 1,337,500 XP before your next death.

As for which one is "easiest," I'd go with a spirit spamming Rit. They're very powerful and don't require much thought at all to get through stuff.

Ritualists are extremely easy, but they're also weak when playing with heroes in comparison to assassin / nec / mesmer or any melee character. Take it from someone who actually has a 50\50 HoM and GWAMM Ritualist lol. I haven't played that char ONCE after I got GWAMM! Not RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing once!

I'd imagine one of the core classes would get you one title closer than the others because you can add Legendary Defender of Ascalon -- it's free and relatively painless. I personally find it's easier to get through HM content with armor-ignoring casters, since you don't have to worry about blind or blocking. So I guess that would point my recommendation in the direction of necro or mesmer.

But as we always say, it's whatever you find most fun (maybe you prefer melee to casters...).

As another person with multiple gwamms and 50/50, I found Rit to be stupid easy to obtain titles with. No more difficult than the ranger I did first or the mes im currently doing.

I have GWAMM on my Ranger, but if I was to do it again (not frickin' likely ), I'd probably use my Ritualist.

For Survivor, I'd recommend a Paragon with the traditional Imbagon build to harden your Heroes. Being heavily-armored, with a martial weapon, and being mid-/backline means they rarely get aggro and generally survive what little they attract - unless, of course, you're looking at a party-wipe situation (if more than half of your party goes down, get out IMMEDIATELY, though that goes for any prospective Survivor, really), where you're most likely going to be one of the last ones to be killed.

Ranger's also a pretty good one for Survivor - especially with a Beast Mastery build: good enough armor and a martial weapon to avoid being a primary target for foes, and generally far enough away to be able to get out of there if things start going sour.

For other titles, Signet of Spirits-based Ritualist, almost no question there.

I have a Monk with 27/30 maxed titles and HoM at 50/50. I enjoyed all my time playing it. Just haven't GWAMM because all titles left are some kind of mindless grind (Lux/Kurz, Sweet Tooth, Party Animal, Drunkard, Wisdow, Treasure, Luck/Unluck, etc)

If your only concern is getting survivor title, there really is no reason to make a new character. Just buy those quest items or save all the books to get exp all at once without any risk of dying. If you want to get survivor the traditional way by fighting, then a paragon with imbagon build is really a safe bet as ogre-jd said. I got the survivor title before the change on my paragon just going through the missions and quests and skill capping without much risky moments. And finally you don't have to have survivor title to max GWAMM.

I got my GWAMM with Warrior and Rit and I would say Rit was easier just for the fact I did it when 7 heroes were available. I can't say I really had much of a difference in difficulty it just takes time and Money.

I know you're going to hate me for saying this, but I have a really annoying suggestion. Play all of the classes suggested in this thread (and perhaps those that AREN'T), with the following in mind:
  • You'll be playing this character for a LONG time. Choose a char you can stick with for a while.
  • You probably don't want to veer too far in the direction of either Too Defensive or Too Offensive.
  • Find a char that can fill a number of roles (i.e., very defensive either Protection or Healing or whatnot, and very offensive, i.e. spike/debuff). The beauty of GW lies in that most if not all characters can fit these roles.
  • Don't be afraid to go for account-wide titles, such as Luxon/Kurzick, Wisdom, or the like. I'd strongly advise against going for account-wide PvP titles, since unless you're REALLY good, they're generally not worth the time. The Wisdom title in particular is relatively easy to farm, and you can work on it with other chars if you get tired of your GWAMM.
  • Once you find a char that you like, find a general-purpose build for it that you can use for most stuff (like vanqing, missions, mapping, and skill capping)

I have three GWAMM Sandwiches so far (Monk, Sin, Ranger), and am closing in on my fourth (Necro). Unfortunately, I can't judge which of these was "easiest", as A) I've gotten gotten "better" at GWing, and B) the first two GWAMMs came with account-wide titles that effectively mean #3 and #4 have had significantly FEWER than 30 titles to GWAMM. That being said, Ranger was probably the easiest, as rangers are ridiculously durable (most of the high-end endgame damage is elemental, afaik, which they're resilient against).

As Gabs88 said, I'd avoid paragon. I'd disagree that monk is bad - I found monk to be perfectly fine - but paragon is as of now sorta limited in the potential really good builds it can run. Yes, Imbagon (which means basically 100 extra armor and 35% dmg reduction) can be nice, but it can get rather boring being locked into one build.

I GWAMMED and maxed HOM on my derv before the recent changes that buffed dervs some. If not for me falling asleep and getting mobbed i would have maxed survivor before anet made getting survivor less stressful. Really just about knowing how to play your character and when doing survivor knowing what to do and what to avoid (and of course not falling asleep and getting mobbed by oozes lol).

Working on a rit right now and as everyone pretty much said, pretty easy and fun to play.

I'm confused. So basically, you still have to get all those points without dying, but if you die it "resets" and you can try again? Does it reset every time you die? This may totally change my approach; lost track of how many times I've restarted due to death.

Correct. And yes, it resets every time you die (unless you die from one of the exempt types of death, of course). Your track will not reset -- it will maintain displaying the highest amount of deathless XP you attained -- but you can check your current progress by typing /deaths. It will say you've died "# times and gained ### experience since your last death." That's what counts. When that message says you've gained "1,337,500 experience since your last death," you'll have Legendary Survivor.
