Offer?
Why the hell do peeps who want to sell stuff always say "offer?" They know what price they want for the item. Wouldn't it save a lot of time and effort just to post the damn price already? Do you really believe I'm going to offer 50 arms for your RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing whiptail mini?!?! Or do you just like wasting both your time and mine with needless chatter?
By the way, I'll offer 5k on your Mallyx there... Last edited by Pewterbrain; May 23, 2012 at 02:11 AM // 02:11.. |

I hate hearing "offer" as well. I offer either 1k or 5k, no matter what it is when they tell me to offer.

OMG, thank you.. I was starting to think I was the only one annoyed by this...
Though in my case it drives me insane when some buyers do that as well... such as waste of time in most cases.... Like, seriously, if you don't plan on paying more then 10% of the market price for an item, you might as well save everyone some time and just say it out front..... you'll still get to scam the victims who don't know the prices anyway I mean, I can understand doing it for things that vary in price a lot, or are relatively expensive... but damn its such a waste of time for cheap items... But ya, In short the straightforward answer is just that they're all out hoping to catch that one person who doesn't know the price to an item and sell it for $$$$/buy it for cheap.... Problem is very few actually have a good grasp of the going rates because the market is so inefficient. If youre selling a -2^we +30 HP oldschool shield it's not worth 50 ecto or 100 ecto. It's worth what someone is willing to pay

People are greedy and want more than the item is worth. Honestly, I block people who can't give me a clear price or try to negociate my prices. If I wanted 10k, I'd say 10k, not 15k.

Your all wrong.. people ( like me) say offer because:
a) we don't know what the price is. b) we are getting an factual price check on items c) (most often) They just want to sell it cause it sat in inventory for over a year. Instead of being annoyed by the fact that you nether know the price of an item. How about you just offer what you think is fair? Instead of getting offended by non consequential things. |

There are plenty of price guides for everything on the internet and *gasp* search features! Best of all, they take no more than 20 seconds to use and compare! That excuse is effing bull.

Old adage in sales; "he speaks first loses" . I have asked for offers and many times received one worth more than I had originally anticipated. Nowadays, with a shrinking market, I spam the amount I am selling for (asking for less than perceived market value).

Not sure why people saying 'offer' is an issue. It probably takes about 10 seconds to type out your offer, another 10-30 seconds for them to reply, not as if it's a long time. Seems a bit immature to block people because they tried to barter with you, obviously if they are offering a stupidly low offer, then just ignore it, but to get upset over someone asking for 5k off the price is pretty funny.
At the end of the day, if you know the market for what you are buying well, then you can make an informed offer for the item, or lower if you are trying to get a deal. It's not up to the seller to have a knowledgeable buyer, if the seller knows the value, they know that people will either pay the price it's worth (informed buyers) or they will be able to get more for the item due to people not knowing the prices (uninformed buyers). People will always want to make more money for their items, it's just how it goes. |
