Just curios if anybody's heard any news on this year's gw1 Halloween event?? I've seen stuff all over the intrnet about gw2 Halloween event, but nothing on gw1...? ofc it is still early in the month, its only the 9th lol. Sooo if anybody knows something.... TELL MEH!!!

Usually the Halloween event is up this week for GW1 - that being said, I believe the devs mentioned that events will still continue on even with the release of GW2. I would expect to see it sometime this week.

no news, but if they continue the way they have...this year will have no new hats/masks, but most likely a way to get the old ones ...having done this for the last festival (dragon?)

I would keep checking the official site or official forum for news about halloween.

Now the announcement has been made about the Halloween event in Guild Wars 2, I would expect to have seen an announcement about GW1 events, but nothing so far.

I hope ANet stick to their word and continue with the events.

Look on guild wars 1 twitter they have started to post Halloween events - like previous years masks etc.. will not be know until last day - personally I am hoping for the mobstopper quests -

so it looks like its going to be the same thing as the last festival...do a bunch of quests to get tokens for old halloween hats/masks....now if we can just get them to update the WIKI instead of having to do facebook or be a twit.

The hat thing was pretty much a given after the DF, they're not going to create new festival content every year for GW1 but want to keep the events going, so the safe bet is that they will all transition to this format.

Now what I want to know is whether there will also be a live event happening in GW2 that forces you to choose between it and paying respects to the Mad King.

Ok I'm a bit confused here.
From facebook: Halloween is coming to Guild Wars and there will be hats! However, Mad King Thorn will no longer be your source for new apparel. You'll be able to complete specific quests to get Ghoulish Accessory Tokens, which can be exchanged for headgear from Halloweens past.
From official site: Mad King Thorn appears multiple times on October 31 in both Lion???s Arch and Kamadan, always preceded by his undead heralds and accompanied by his nightmarish entourage. Participate in any of his appearances and you???ll earn a special piece of Halloween headwear!but also Each Halloween, you???ll be able to acquire a Ghoulish Accessory Token that can be exchanged for a hat

So I don't understand whether MK will no longer give hats at all and the info on official site is wrong, or if he still will give hats but random old ones while with tokens you can choose?

I also see no word of Scarred Psyche, I hope they're gonna repeat it since I found it a lot fun, and would be a pity to waste such content as well.

update notes:

# Two new Lunatic Court quests will be available once the Countess of Hakewood and the Emissary of King Thorn arrive at the celebration.
# Lunatic Court quests may now be taken and completed in any order.
# Changed the reward Mad King Thorn gives at the end of each finale; he will no longer dispense Halloween accessories.
# Halloween accessories may be acquired by completing quests for Gul Terror in Lion???s Arch and Malavaka in Kamadan. (Once per account.)

the not very updated official wiki seems to have yes, cut and pasted from other years (yeah go figure)...so I would take the facebook one since the peeps over at anet seem to think everyone is stupid enough to still have a facebook account (or a twit).

so:
you will be able to acquire old hats from doing new quests --just like from the last festival,
MK will probably still show up for the finale, however, will NOT give out hats, but will probably still give out treats for those who follow along (remember NEVER yawn!)

we shall ultimate see when it happens, how it happens....since well, we all know anets track record!

The attention to detail is obviously not a priority at the moment. I just loaded the game up and the login screen displays an announcement for "Halloween 2011"! Good one.

That bit is just something they forgot to update. The event pages are reused from year to year. Their announcements are pretty explicit in that no new headwear will be given out.

kamadan quest needs 50 pumpkin cookies for the token to get the hat....didnt go to LA...

If you've already got the hats (or don't want them) you can trade the token for a (grab bag?) of tonics. I'll let a braver soul find out if it's worth 50 treats.
