How is Guild Wars?
I Played Guild Wars for 7 years and about a month ago I got gw2. I put time into it and really wanted to give it a chance, but in the end I can't force myself to play it. Guild Wars 2 was not made with Guild Wars players in mind. But more so how much money they can make, they went mainstream and went against what they become so popular for.
Soo theres my rant.. But I want to know if Guild Wars will continue to have a development team and continue to come out with new things? Or if they just have it on replay until everyone quits. Thanks |

As you may know, they said they would "continue to support [Guild Wars 1] with live content" (presumably with GW: Beyond in Elona). But things have been quiet and we will only know for sure, if they abandoned GW 1, if nothing comes on April 28th, which is the game's anniversary.
Until then, they will probably be pre-occupied with GW 2, as they are still fixing various issues and, at least from my point of view, they still seem undecided on the direction in which they want to take GW 2. But if even the anniversary of their first game is not enough to remind them of it, then yeah, at that point we'll be able to safely conclude that no updates will ever come. |

if you ask me, they keep up GW for yeears, and will someday update with more content like wik and woc, maybe even expansions
for now (as said) they are mostly busy with GW2, meaning they have little time to watch GW, but once GW2 goes better, and like an MMO should, they will also return to GW, to make that community happier again GW and GW2 both still are sources of money for em, so they kinda take a break from new GW stuff to make GW2 "up to date" you could say, and after that, they will have the time and space to give us a bigger (and better cuz of that) live team in GW so we just gotta wait a while, and ignore the "they wont update GW anymore" posts, s anet said they still work on GW, AND many people played GW2, but returned to GW so putting GW on auto event and non-updated stuff cycle, would be stupid i havent bought GW2, and may buy more in GW, depending on what they'll do... and how much but i can wait, dont wanna, but anything for my only MMO, which i actually play (joined and left perfect world many times, lol) |

Ok, there was an entire thread about whether people believe there will ever be an expansion for GW and I laughed when I saw it but I thought the truth was pretty clear.
There will never ever be another buy-able expansion to GW. Not in a million years. You can be 110% certain of that. Never ever. Anybody that has been following the development of video-games for a few years should already know this. The only thing that is possible for GW is more GW: Beyond, some skill updates, maybe a new outpost/explorable area, or more costumes. Some of that may only be available through the in-game store, if they're desperate for money. But there will never be another official GW expansion. Ever. |

just like wintergreen weapons being made for only those who won them, and the so-called gamebreaking 7 hero teams, what about pve/pvp splits, which were never to happen
many people said "it wont happen" yet they DID happen Quote:

well, with your (and everyone else who posts only "they wont for sure") next post, i want to see a link of the OFFICIAL ArenaNet, about GW's future all i've seen was "there are currently no plans" anyway OP, dont believe this 100% sure stuff, cuz i dont know if even Anet is 100% sure of it, or not its just negative talk you hear, cuz anet is busy with GW2 now, and so they make it sound like GW is dead maybe its to make anet think: uh oh, they are so negative, lets try and make something bigger as soon as possible... nah, people wouldnt try that, putting too much pressure on anet to get bad and half developed new content.... right? GW is on a hold, not being frozen, so dont worry about GW's future, it'll just take long for now |

as long as the game is making profit for them through sales or cash shop that can sustain the upkeep of the servers then you can safely assume gw will never die out completely.

Rare weapons, mini pets, titles etc. have been made easier to get for a few years now. If there are people who haven't noticed this pattern yet, then they are either very naive or very inattentive. And all of those things have nothing to do with an official expansion (not something like GW Beyond which, like I said, could still be possible).

you said that expansions wont come anymore and the 7 hero thing and pve/pvp split ideas are ancient ideas, if you ask me, yet they came years later... and people said they wouldnt ever come i just dont see any reason not to release more expansions (be it with a story you see in GW2, or something only seen in GW), if they get enough money they added costumes to get money, and at the time the last few costumes got here, i saw GW becoming way less active already and i heard from someone from Anet, that making + releasing costumes also costs money, just like expansions anyway, i still havent seen anything from Anet, so i dont believe there's a 100% in here *ontopic again* and OP, since anet still wanted to release more content in existing places (elona next), they will do that first, as john stumme has put it on paper, but couldnt let anet release it, cuz of GW2's closer coming release so IF we get to see expansions, it'll be most likely after the "elona new content" which comes after GW2 is going the way it should be |

Thanks for all the replies! I just wish they treated Guild Wars 1 as its own game in entirety. What I mean by that, is basically they shouldn't of named Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars 2. But something entirely different. Besides the fact of these games sharing lore, their completely different.
And after playing Guild Wars 2 and yes having to lvl up between almost every storyline quest is a grind, very tedious, and boring lol. After giving away my stuff to players who needed money for their hom and what not because I thought i'd love Guild Wars 2. I still think i'll make a new charector in Guild Wars 1, because its just that good. lol I think its more of a mind trick, because I can roll through the games campaigns over and over but getting to lvl 80 just to do stuff gives me a headache. Like Schmerdro said, about how he believes they don't even know the direction they want to take Guild Wars 2, I agree. So enless their direction turns more towards Guild Wars than WoW, I'll give it another go. But either way I really hope they release some new stuff for Guild Wars. Some new armor would be awesome, but costumes aren't bad either. lol |
