Is gw1 still popular?
Hi,
I , like many others bought gw2 when it came out. but were a bit disappointed in it. So is gw1 still popular enough to play or is it shutting down? regards Amy creed |

It is popular enough there are still some people that play and with free Uw and Fow this past week there were even many pug groups for uwsc and fowsc and many w/me ecto farms around. Kamadan is also usually decently busy, not like it used to be but there are still people, LA ascalon, kaineing and shing jea are pretty empty nowadays. I like you bought gw2 and played for a quite a while, but recently I became disappointed with the broken promises and the annoying useless monthly content that fails to add anything worthwhile to the game. So I am back playing gw and there are still others there for whatever reason so feel free to join the great original gw community just also expect to play alone with heroes a vast majority of the time if you do.

Yes indeed. Certainly not as populated as in its heyday (circa 2006/2007), but like you there are many who have come back from GW2 (and several other games), and many more like me who never left. Admittedly, I have been taking a small break from the game for the last couple of months to enjoy SWTOR and Defiance, but I still have a lot of things I want to do in the game, so will get back into it once again in the next few months (which is another one of the things I loved about the game that didn't make it to GW2 - the ability to take time off and not miss any content during that time).

<-- never left
not only are people playing gw, a bunch of people just started playing new characters from the beginning (pre-searing!)...so there is still interest in this game and many people are still playing (dont be fooled by the lack of peeps in outposts--lots of people are now just playing with guilds or heroes , but join a guild and you will find others still playing!!!)

I am currently using playonlinux to run the free trial of GW1 and it is working wonderfully on my debian machine. I thought to post this link for the mac version in the event that someone would like to try it. BTW, I am really enjoying GW. I am starting from the beginning and wish I would have tried it sooner. It is a great game. Penny |
