Default About the ATI Radeon 8500 Video Card?

I was wondering, do any of you know if the Game is limited to specific video cards? We have everything for the Connection, the only thing we are not sure of is our Video Card. We have a ATI Technologies INC. 3D Rage II PCI Video Card. Do any of you know if this will work with Guild Wars? *Crosses Fingers.*

You don't know how much that sucks to hear that. I mean that really sucks, I was looking forward to that Game Bad. How much do Video Cards cost, I mean ones that will actually play good with Guild Wars? It's not hard to install one is it?

Well, in all honesty, Ice Heart... what do you play right now? I mean, that Rage Pro can't be taking you very far...

I don't play any games on MY computer. I usually am over at a friends house if i'm going to play PC games. My computer was built by my moms dad (Who is extremely good with computers), and from what we have experienced (Besides Video Games) my computer works well with the internet, video's, and everything else. I have felled to try and play a game on here yet though. From what i'm hearing, it looks as if I won't be trying to even play a game any time soon with my Video Card. What video cards do you all recomend? (Keep the prices low, I search for good prices, I hate spending alot of money on things.)

Ok, me and my family have already looked at the FAQ of the Guild Wars. We have checked all the system requirements for the game, and the only one I have found we need is the video card. Everything else is A-ok! \m/

I picked up a Power Color Radeon 9250 256mb PCI card for about $115 CDN. I ordered it fomr some website (can't remeber it now). This card worked great in Feb BWE. I could run GW at full settings with no problems. It's much better than my former GeForce 4 MX 440 (minimum reqs according to ANet) but I was still able to run GW on it with no problems at the lowest settings. The only problem then was the world looked much less pretty.

Ok, but we know for sure that the video card I have now will not work right? If that is the case, I will just have to go and pick one up.

the minimum price for the minimum card from a reliable source is about 40-50 dollars
newegg has had top reseller ratings since it opened and i have used them for several years

http://www.newegg.com/

EDIT

the only way is to try it but others with similar cards have reported failure

Ice Heart: If you have the GW client downloaded and installed, open it up and see what it looks like. Click the button "autodetect settings" to let the client change the video settings to the right level for your card (I'd assume it would go to the lowest settings). If the fires int he background look choopy at all, you'll probably need a new card. it is possible for GW to run on that card (I think) but the best way to find out is to try it out.

the lag might be more of your internet connection rather than your video card trying to keep up

if the lag is a second or more i would say the vonnection

try turning off the sound and the graphics dowb to 800x600 and all effects off and see if the lag vanishes

if it is still there it is probably the connection

no guarantee though

Ok, so how do I download the client? Do I have to just preorder the game, or what? Are you saying that there is a slight chance my card may work?

There is a slight chnace your card will work. GW worked on my GeForce 4 MX 440, which seems equivilent to yours according to GW system reqs.

Chances are you'll wanna upgrade when you can to catcht eh full beuaty of the GW world.

Ok, well I downloaded it fine, but I was not able to view it because i'm not the admin. of my computer. We have Windows XP and all my family members have their own Log In, my Mom however is the Administrator, and I will have to get her to download it. I have some info that might help you guys about my video card. Ok, everytime I go to play previews, or watch music video's, clips, trailers, etc...They all play just fine, would that mean my game would somewhat work ok, or does it have anything to do with my card?
