Anyone rushing out of Pre-Seared Ascalon to get better equipment is...missing the forest for the trees.

Pre-Seared Ascalon is beautiful, and it is easy to spend a lot of time there, enjoying the scenery, and doing all the various tasks. You never have to worry about dying, and you'll gain a bunch of levels along the way. It's easy to get to level 6 without trying hard at all.

Stay there because you enjoy it, not because you are concerned with powerleveling.

As for getting better equipment in Post-Searing:
It's till a lowbie area. You're going to get better equipment as soon as you make it out of there. Why are you worrying about your level 5 equipment? Or level 10? Worry about your level 20 equips. Til then, just grab the best thing you see and keep running towards Lion's Arch, or Riverside, or the next outpost.

Exactly. When I read Granamyr's post, I thought what you said, Scaphism. Get as much as you can (experiece) out of pre-searing Ascalon before moving on. Because, when you get out and go to post-searing Ascalon, it wont be hard to get armor and equipment. Its hard when your trying to do both. I found all this out the hard way. I started an Elementalist/Monk during the last hour or two of this last beta event. And I plan to do all the quests I can. Thanks Scaphism.

I dont see why you wouldnt want to level up as much as possible in Pre. The only crutches you are going to have once you Post are armor and weapon, but you play the same missions in the same order. With the exception of Warriors, arent your Spells are going to have the same damage reguardless (unless you have weapons with modifiers)?

From what I remember though, once you level to a certain degree above the monsters you are fighting, you dont get anymore XP out of it, so wouldn't you just get stuck?

Highest you'll find are level 10 bosses around the flame temple north of the wall, along with lots of level 7-8 charr packs.

I wouldn't worry about equipment at lower levels - you're going to hit level 20 within a week even if you take your time and enjoy the scenery. Just save your cash to get some acceptable level 20 equipment - full armor, max damage weapons, etc - so that you can start saving for the good stuff.

But that's all long term. You can hit level 16 in pre-Searing PvE, and I'm sure someone will. If you're trying to level, grab a friend and head north of the wall - Oakhearts are a joke, and the Charr are doable even at level 7 or so.

Peace,

Awesome, I'll get as much as I can with Pre-Searing and then get ok armor from post-searing then get to 20 and get good equipment and move on and keep going in the missions and such!

Yo Peeps

My buddy and I killed all the Charr above the North Wall...

with him an Elementalist/Ranger (with a stalker)

and me a weak weak Monk/Elementalist.

We were both fools and such poor players. But hours and hours and hours later and after about twenty threats to each other to quit...we had killed all the Charr we could find.

Sick fun, that's the only way to describe it...

Yo Bling,

Days and days later you revive my post to boast about killing the Charr. Impressive.....I admire your sick dedication towards combing the forums for a place to post.

Did you find any other lvl 5 or above monsters besides the River Drake or Scale Brood? These should probably be boss monsters and your trainer should hand you a Signet of Capture (SoC) instead of just 3 free skills.

Is the earliest place you can get a SoC Lion's Arch? That seems rather absurd to me since skill acquisition is such an important part of the game and furthermore since so many of the bosses don't have any powerful skills until after LA. There are better threads that address this though.

QUESTION

someone posted they have a level 15 character that cannot leave the town or enter the academy effectively trapping it there making it useless

is that a bug or a warning to get out of he academy by a certain level?

It's probably a bug - I know that some level 20s got stuck there for some reason so this has been dealt with before. He should be able to just do the newbie quest and enter the academy though...

Peace,

Hey all...

Granamyr, I don't recall finding any other bosses. The ones you've noted are about it.

Except within the Charr areas North of the wall, you can find that "searing machine" thing...whatever it is that the Charr use in the following cut-scene to destroy Ascalon...and there are Charr guys on top of it with names. I guess they're the ones responsible for the searing. And ironically you can kill them and all, but it still happens when you go to join the academy.

But yeah, I guess I'm with you. There aren't really great bosses early in the game and the skills they have (according to what I've read around here) aren't worth capturing.

-BlingKrunk

P.S. By the way, I wasn't intending to brag at all...if anything I guess I thought it was a little embarrassing what I did, as such a poor player. Anyway, i was searching through old threads trying to find some info on charmable animals and saw this one and felt like chiming in. Sorry if I upset anyone.
