Default Ranger pets.

So how exactly do you get a pet when you are a ranger. Do you have to have charm animal with you to have the pet at all times?

It's simple, you run up to a pet and use Charm Animal. Even without attacking, the creature will engage you, so don't try stealthing.

Once charmed you must keep Charm Animal with you at all times or your pet will not accompany you anymore. But if you re-equip it the pet will return. If you wish to find another pet you may give it (not sell it) to a tamer.

I believe there is a tamer by Master Ranger Nente in Regent Valley(Preseared Ascalon). Oh, and also there's one outside the gates in the explorable area Old Ascalon.

And that pet will gain levels and become stronger over time, correct?

One more thing, is putting anything into best mastery worth it, and is it worth it to have a pet.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I've not yet played the game (just received my preorder yesterday). Do you have to feed your pet or anything like that? Is there any extra maintenance involved with having a pet, other than the fact that it requires Charm Animal to be among your allocated skills?

Yeah your pet gains lvls over time just like you. You must have him/her equiped to earn points so they can level. Top lvl your pet will achieve is lvl 20. The more points you put into Beast Mastery skill, the more effective the skills in that category will be. I would suggest getting the latest build calculator and test it for yourself!

Hope this helps.

Okay, thank you. I figured you probably didn't, but I wanted to make sure.
