Default Questions concerning quests.

Greetings all, I'm new to Guild Wars and have a few questions concerning how the quest system works. Here goes....

1) Is there some type of logical grouping for the quests? What I mean by this is there some way to tell what level the quests are and if they are linked. There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how they are grouped in your log. For example you can get a quest at level 0 to go kill a level 5 bull. I'm used to WoW where the quests are color-coded. Is there some similar system in GW that I am missing?

2) Why are some quests sharable and some not? My wife and myself play together and some quests she has gotten credit for, and some she hasn't. Is there some way to tell which quests are/aren't sharable?

3) (Actually, this isn't a quest question) Why do some creeps attack and some don't? Some creeps you can walk up to and dance a jig around, others attack on site. Just wondering how the aggro system worked.

Thanks for any insight. The wife and I are looking for another game besides WoW, and this looks to be it. However it seems like it will take some getting used to. Besides the quests we are still trying to get a handle on the crafting/salvage system. However we absolutely love what seems to be non-existent lag and the fact that most areas are our own copy.

Thanks again.

you will be able to join each other (2 games required ) in the game itself

you are in (rogue bull some hostile some not) the tutorial area

later missions will cooperative effort with live people or henchmen(free) to complete

they are still adjusting the AI of things so who knows what will attack next

also proximity has a factor

if something gets into the radar (shaded area around you on map it is more likely to trigger an attach while something running by outside the circle will keep going

quests are mix and match because the whole area is the tutorial

dont rush to the academy too early as you will regret it

be at least level 5-7 have your second profession and all the skills available for them as they are free in the tutorial and cost skill points later for the same skill

My question about quests:
If you enter an instanced zone with a player that had completed a quest, can your character ever complete the same quest?

For example, I took my brand new level one character out of the city with a player that had allready completed Gwen's flute quest. With that character, I was never offered the flute quest from Gwen.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, does this mean that the dynamic quest system will limit your game play if you play with another person that has allready completed the quests/missions?

My wife and I play together as well, and we have gotten into the habit of always talking about our quests: "Hey honey, go talk to Sir So-and-so, he gave me a quest." And only focusing on quests that we can both get. This was a little harder in the Pre-Searing area ... some of the quests were class-specific, and others we had to do twice so we could both get credit. But we found that generally speaking, the experience and rewards washed out so we could both enjoy our time. It was just a matter of communicating (which was yelling across the house, until we get our CE headsets!) as to what quests we each had.

Once you get past the Searing, the quests seem to be much more universal. We were able to complete all of our Post-Searing quests together in the BWE's we played. And there's always the missions and exploration-hunting, in which success and rewards are shared by the entire group.

As for grouping with someone who has already completed a quest, my wife and I had no problem (in Pre- or Post-Searing) going back to get a quest that the other had already finished. I believe (though I'm not certain) that you can even complete a mission grouped with someone who's already completed it.

Of course, the level cap means that even if one of you gets ahead of the other in experience, it won't last too long. But I agree that the game is much more satisfying when you can complete all your quests together.

I have found that most of the quest are sharable if you both have the quest beforehand and talk to the npc yourself. the only quest that i have found that I had to repeat with a partners are quests in which I need to bring a Carryable item (Apples, StrongBox ) or an item dropped by an monster(Poison Stinger, Bear Skin) to an NPC. Those quest require an item to complete I thinke everyother quest in Presearing I been able to share.

Also in pre-searing i have found that the creatures on the roads to all the secondary profession trainers contain monsters that dont attack unless attacked this seems to be the case as why you can walk circles around them I don't think i seen non agro monsters anywhere else. (only exception seem to be one or 2 ice elementals by Azuire) this was probabaly done on purpose so I guess levels 1 can get the quests easily.

this seems to happen with the dynamic quest system there are a few instnace in which i know this happens pre searing.

Gwen-Gwen is a little messed up Primary Monk's cant get her broken flute quest since their primary skill training quest relates to gwen. Also if anyone buys her a flute or Cape you cant buy her one. I guess this make sense cause if you seen her already with a cape and flute you would wonder what happened to it. Since except for the inital Gwen's Broken flute quest you dont get any xp this is a moot point and you can still give her flowers to get the tapestry shred.

Rogue's Replacement- To get this quest the rogue bull needs to be dead if one player hasnt killed the rogue bull in the mesmer's burden quest the bull will still be alive and Old Mack will never come and give you this quest. If you leave and come back alone or with a partner who has this quest he should show up.

A gift for Althea- Before you get this quest you see a short convo going on with rurik and Osric you need this convo to go on before Osric will give you the quest. After the convo Rurik will leave and you can go up to Osric to get the quest. if you partner with someone else who hasnt seen the convo or been on a map where the convo has happened while they were on it. They cant get the Gift for althea quest as long as you are in party with them. If they leave ascalon City by themselves they should see the conversation.

Uhm...Monk here, and Gwen never told me nothing about no tapestry shred....and I gave her flowers, all thirteen that I had and she still doesn't do anything but want to follow me or wait.

What's going on with this Quest, and is this shred worth it before heading to the Academy?
