Default L20 Necro/Monk - Monk Proffesion Useless...

Well i started thinking wow would be nice to have some extra healing so i picked monk, But as i got further into the game i noticed i would use less and less monk spells and now i dont use them at all because they are pretty much useless to me now.

I like doing PvE the most im not too much into PvP yet cause i wanna find alot of goodies and what not before i start on PvP, But now my main skills are "Blood" ,"Curses" and "Death" magic, Which work out very well when im in a group, I think the only time i used the monk spells in a group was at Augury Rock to heal others but now its just pointless because you either have a Monk in your group that does all that anyways and i dont really need to heal myself much cause i have some wicked life leech, So i guess i know now not to choose monk as a second proffesion and i should just go pure Necro next time heh.

So if you could please tell me some reason as to why i should use monk spells then that would be much appreciated!

Thanks for any input or suggestions.

Just do one of the class changing quests and change your secondary class to something else, perhaps elementalist or mesmer.

I have a Necro/Monk lvl 18. I do PvE. It rocks. I use Death magic (13) Soul Reaping (6) Healing (8). I have lvl 15 bone horrors that just whoop a$$. I use heal area for healing my horrors and I use breeze for a quick 6 life reg for anybody that gets low. Then I use death nova on my bone horrors so when they die, they wreck whatever they are near. It works extremely good for PvE.

If you don't need the healing, maybe you can use the smiting line to deal some damage, for example Judge's Insight to buff a warrior etc.

You first priority IS being a necromancer. You probably WON'T put much into your secondary profession. My main character is an E/Mo and I put most of my points into Fire Magic and Energy Storage. The rest go into healing. Why? It comes in handy for resurrection and quick heals when needed.

Perhaps, as one of the above replies made mention, you should put your points into Smiting. Or maybe roll a new character and create a Necro/Elementalist since you find yourself in groups with a monk anyway. However, I will say this, I always find it refreshing to be in groups with a main monk and a couple of other secondary monks as well. But that's just me.

well there's nothing wrong with using all necro skills or any class for that matter.

I have monk as a secondary on 2 of my alts so far, but don't think i'll be using it much on my ranger which will probably have 7 or 8 ranger skills.

you don't have to start a thread that says "monk profession useless" in the title...unless of course you're just trying to get attention or start yet another flame war.

Class changing quests?
Can someone please post a link to where I can read about it, and where I can get this quest?

I'm Lvl 13 Warrior/Elementalist, and as Smoker posted, my 2nd class is useless. I use Hammer and my primary weapon, and I'm usually in front of the group, taking out hardest monsters with my bash. I use Fire skill once in a while, but never need it when playing in group.

One reason to stay necro/monk is for rezz like mentioned before, but monk anything also has an easy time soloing with balt's spirit, balt's aura, symbol of wrath, zealot's fire, reversal of fortune, healing touch, guardian or whatever other cheap heals that charge quickly. I.e. you cast zealot's, cast your area effects, then spam your heals til everything is dead, all the while getting near limitless energy while you're being hit.

While other classes can definitely solo, I have a tough time placing them as easy or as safe to solo as the monk.

And like others have said, you can always swap later, I'm currently getting the mesmer skills I like from my originally monk/warrior.

Hmmm, I've actually been tossing around the idea of a Necro/Monk Healer. Basically using Necro for Soul Reaping in PvE. Of course you can always switch secondaries later, and redistributing attribute points is a breeze. But I've often thought that bonus energy whenever something dies would really help the monk out.

Anyway, you give up divine favor for that so I'm not sure if it's worth it, but maybe.

Do you already have aftershock? That skill is FAR from useless with a hammer/knockdown warrior.
