Vampiric bow string, why? - Page 2 - Guild Wars Forums

sometimes you will encounter monsters that does life stealing damage.

you will see 2 numbers every time they attack. base dmg and -x (life stealing)

now if just they had the health regen too. h4xers

i have never noticed a monster use a zelous weapon. but i can allmost garantee that its there, but energy draining doesn't "show up" as damage does, so it would be really hard to notice, especially since its only 1 at a time

edit: is it actually energy stolen, or just energy gained?? i don't remember

1) ranger is range - r. Life stealing is secondary.
2) Conjure flame/frost/lighting gives EXTRA X dmg per hit.
3) To use conjure flame/frost/lighting, you need a bow deals elemental dmg
4) Unless it is 1v1 and vampire can outheal dmg, i won't consider that.

i am sorry but I have to comment on this as well ... I do agree with the poster of the original thread. Why the heck would you possibly use a vampiric or zealous bow string ... firstly you only gain the +5 ON HITS .... odd because you admitingly starting your self off with a -1 enabling the opponent an upper hand already ... I know that there is some belief that it may be better but why pick it ....

a ranger with high expertise will likely never come into energy issues. I never have and I only have a mere 13.

Why not go for a more effective string ... (sundering builds the armor pen, thus increasing the actual damage your bow does)

or goodness how about a poisoners ... lol i realize there are many uses where it may be useful i just have never come across it ...

Personally I agree that it is not worth 50k. I could have a use with barrage. Other then that I will keep with either my poisoner's or Sindering bow. Although I do love the zelous bow with barrage

yes its useful with barrage but at 13 expertise ... spammable barages only really take 1 energy giving firing time/energy/cast time ... realistically I can spam barrages till the cows come home and never have any energy woes ...

but yes as it would be viable to use in conjunction to regain energy for you other professions high energy skills

I wasn't speaking of zealous+barrage for the ranger skills, I'm talking about very high energy ranger skills or secondary class skills which expertise doesn't effect.

Anyway, I may still use a vampiric bow now, doing 5 more damage is a lot.

I'll have a poisoners bow for use with apply poison too.
