Default Pet question and maybe suggestion...

Is there a way to stop your pet from attacking?

I bring my pet everywhere and I have my beast pumped up so he's tough, but it would be nice to control him better. All I want is for him to stay.

One of the primary roles of a ranger in a group is to pull. Unfortunately, when I attack a monster my cat will rush out and attack the monster, too. If I'm pulling this isn't so great, because he'll often get out there an engage the monster before move as close as the group might like. Or worse yet! He'll get out there so fast he'll aggro another group and bring more enemies into the fray.

I hope I'm just missing some command somewhere, but I don't think so. So Guild Wars staff, if it's not possible to have your pet sit and stay, I humbly suggest it as an upgrade.

I know of nothing like that, it sounds neat though. Commands like /petsit or /petstay, or even fun things like /petpet or /feedpet.

The pet attacks whatever you attack with your bow, and there is no way to completely prevent that.

EDIT: Meant to add that there are a number of spells you can use which don't cause the pet to attack. Maybe not so useful where pulling is concerned, but still worth keeping in mind (which explains why I forgot to mention it ;P)

The best technique I have found is the standard shoot-and-run method, but with the pet you really need to start running away quickly, as they need a second or two to realise you're not attacking anymore.

My biggest gripe with the pets is getting stuck on them! They've fixed that with the henchies.. why not the pets?

Good point. Did you ever get stuck on on the catapults at Thunderhead? I did. My pet trapped me in a corner for like 3 minutes.

So another suggest, as Bingley said, fix the pet blocking, too, please. If I start pushing on my pet that means I want him to get out of the way.

The only time I've ever been blocked, was by Gwen.. God, I hate Gwen.
