Default Noob Question

Being a noob, I am confused at why some of the pvp arena's appear to be inaccesible from the pve towns. Ascalon and Yaks Bend have an npc that lets you in to the pvp arena there. Amnoon Oasis and Henge of Denravi have arena's (according to maps on the internet), but when you try and approach them from the pve towns the path is blocked by a fence.

What's the story with this? Has this been changed by a patch or something?

Thanks.

That is because those places on the map are the actually arenas themselves, if you play in Yak's Bend, Lion's Arch, or the Forge arenas, then you get automatically teleported to the different arenas around the world. No way to just walk into the arenas from the middle of town

The arenas in Henge and Amnoon were closed in an update shortly after release.

I figure they were rather unpopular. I'm not sure, I was still in Ascalon when they closed them
