Default How do YOU get a group formed?

Ok..typically it takes my wife and I over a half hour to find 2 people willing to join us. (i'm a ranger..she's a warrior. we love our classes)
I don't use bots because i'm playing online for the purpose of playing with other people.

I AM in a guild..but since I just started..everyone is a MUCH higher level than me with no room for alts.

So..how do YOU personally get a good group together in under 10 mins?

Just spam Ranger LFG for mission! Willing to pay 2k after mission.
After that then just dont give em the money. Lol, thats what I do with my Mesmer. I get like 6 invites lol.

Well, since it seems you are in ascalon, just type a message such as:

Group looking for X more for mission (and bonus).

You should be getting some join requests soon. Early in the game, a monk is not THAT important, but later in the game that becomes the real challenge, getting a monk.

IxChel's guide to making a good group is a must read. For one thing, if you know what you want you have a better chance of getting it. Secondly, if I see someone looking for my build I am usually much more intrigued. Thirdly, you'll get better players than the ones that just spam LFG - you get the ones that understand the advantages of a good group.

That said, it takes a bit of time to assemble a group, but it can be really great fun to assemble a group with exactly what you wanted in it. Like taking 5 rangers through the Ring of Fire That was fun... IxChel had the advantage of being a monk when doing this guide, but it can work with any class - I've assembled groups this way with my ranger, necromancer and mesmer. The whole "LFM, invite yourself" method is fast, but ends up with crappy groups more often than not. If the folks you invite would rather quit then take a henchman btw, just kick them. Only an idiot can't get by with the healing provided by the monk henchies...

Then I accept pretty much all join requests. If someone acts like a brat, he gets the boot. When all slots are full, we discuss strategy/skillsets and then off we go.

Although the group is rarely ready under 10 minutes, it's much more likely that you don't have to do the mission again. Taking the time to form a good group pays off.

I do it the fun way now... for example, last night...

LFG to fight to Augury! ALL welcome!
Even mesmers!


Got some chuckles at the mesmer line, got a group in seconds, really, three warriors, two eles and a necro.

And, by the gods, we made it. It was a blast. No primary healer, only one rez skill (W/Mo), few signets.

I saw bugs in my sleep though.

I've never had trouble forming groups. I just advertise that I'm looking for a group.

I form my own groups.

I start by seeing who's LFG, and I invite them if they don't sound like jerks. You know, hysterical people yelling stuff like "LFG that is not full of idiots!1!!" Then I run around the zone inviting players of the apropriate class and level. I know that some folks with high blood pressure mind being invited out of the blue, but I'm of the opinion that you can always decline and continue minding your own business.

The quickest way to snag a LFG player is to click on their name in the chat window, so the whisper box opens up. Highlight the name by clicking on it and press ctl+c. Click on any player nearby to add an invite line to the party box. Click on the new line and ctl+v. the name gets pasted and the green add sign lights up, so press it. They're now invited w/o you having to waste time either asking where they are or finding them by holding alt. More often than not, they accept the first invite they get.

As I'm waiting for players to accept the invites I talk whith whom I have and kind of get an idea about their maturity level and teamwork potential. I'm absolutely ruthless in booting disruptive folks.

If they won't wait for the group to form, they're gone.
If they don't get with the plan, they're gone.
If they're disruptive, they're gone and put on ignore.

Using this method I've put together some great groups. Only twice have I had someone whisper me asking why I invited them. Both times I said "because I'd like you in my group" one said "Oh" and joined, the other gave me static, so I said "sorry, I won't invite you again," and that was that.

Minimum drama, maximum maturity and teamwork. A winning combo
