Default adjacent foes

I had thought that 'adjacent foes' were foes w/i an adjacent hex of you for the purposes of mark of pain, in particular.
but it seems as though it's more of a daisy chain effect where any foe touching another in the chain is 'adjacent'.
ie adjacent to each other rather than me.

fyi
(am I mistaken...?)

I had a whole parade of about 6 devourers clogging themselves in a narrow channel, lined up to get at me, that were all taking damage from that skill.

it was pretty cool because they couldn't disperse themselves, as most foes tend to do.

Because it is target foe, and then adjacent enemies, it's foes next to the one you targeted.

I believe sword warriors(when farming) have to mavoure(sp?) their enemies a bit to make sure they can hit groups that are mostly infront of them similar to MoP, as they don't have a skill that covers all 360 degrees.

aha.....but that is why I posted this.
you would think it was enemies adjacent to your target, but it seems to include enemies adjacent to those adjacent to those adjacent....basically, any enemies touching each other in a daisy chain.

like I said, I might be mistaken.

If that is the case then you could be surrounded and hit every creature, go to a weaker area and aggro a group to surround you to check that this wasn't a one off please.

on game screen capture -

Press the "Print Screen" buton to take a screenshot. This will place a Screenshot in your \Guild Wars\Screens\ directory.

You can also press Ctrl + Print Screen to take a screenshot without the interface (don't know if they removes damage numbers or not though).

Ill do this test; I know exatcly where to do this; I Used Enfeeble blood cuz the effect can be seen no matter how long the screen shot takes.
Edited pictures below

well if the melee guys actually didnt follow me i got them within a close range of the ranger types and casted enfeebling blood on a ranger; only the ranger's close to him where affected...

I think it was becouse it was the middle of the group of rangers; not close to a melee guy; I belive that if there a bigger monster perhaps it might chain affect if there bunched up.

I also had a lil fun with Whrilling defenese and Mark of Pain I tired to get spiteful on but heh they die too quickly (outside sernity temple)

hmm after later review of the picture maybe my cameria angle was off and they didnt look as close as i had hoped Ill run it again.

ADDON; UPDATE.

I sat there and took it; to prove this point, that infact it is not chained; its within a bubble radius of its own.

ok Most left side was targeted; before an AoE efftect spell
http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ebefore3wi.jpg
Most left after the AoE spell was casted...
http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?i...deafter7sw.jpg

staying in the exact same position

I target the middle of these 5 guys so the 3rd from the left melee guy before an AoE spell was cast...
http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ebefore2cs.jpg

and now effect when i casted the AoE spell from the middle of these 5...
http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?i...leafter1ch.jpg

ok gimmie a bit more time and ill amass a huge amount of scorps and test this at a big scale

Not in a chain line, I wish it were. If it were so, my hundred blades elite would hit every charr I train on myself with it, instead, it only hits the front 4 <directly ahead of me, IE: Adjacent>

Hope this cleared it up. It did for me

well there is one chain reaction spell; rotting flesh, I forget if theres a skill or spell that also contains "desease" maybe virilance; but anyhow that one condition(desease) will spread among around the target then affect others around them, will continually affect non allies till the intinal timer from the desease attack/spell w/e ends.

and the big scale failed; its a bubble radius around the target, failed cuz im so pissed on how the scrops work now; AI will stop casing you when they notice you flee'n bullshit I know prince ruik doesnt follow me if hes got targets, so why did the monsters run from him? and come after me even if they've been targeting him first and I barley was in the arrgo circle and didnt target me once; didnt do anything xpet fight ruik for 10 sec then magicaly started running down the path where I was? the AI is screwed up, some how it has a memory that you walked by

well question awnsered; I think this is case closed.

I don't really understandyour screenshots Deviance.

I tried it now, using Mark of Pain, seems to be based on a radius round hexed target. Make up your own mind though: screenshot.

The adjacent foes does not have a daisy chain effect. If you cast Shadow of Fear, you can see a faint green cloud surround the target, and if there are any adjacent foes, you'll see a similar cloud a second or two later on the adjacent foe.

I've had a group of Ettins come at me in a line, and Shadow of Fear just effect a few of them.

I will try to get some screenshots later.

then I stand corrected --- thx for the testing, everyone.
I thought it was pretty weird, so that's why I posted it up.

I'll try to recreate my earlier situation, on thursday if I can, and post the screen shot --- maybe the radius is just bigger than I had expected it to be, making it look like the whole line was daisy chained.

If you can prove that it infact daisy-chains <which I seriously hope I'm doing something wrong, because a chain+HB..ownage in ascalon =)>

Screenshot post and we can debate the differences. As I previously stated, My elite sword skill Hundred Blades only hits in a frontward 45 degree arc, IE: the first four things front of me, left to right, with a 45 degree angle. If it hit them all; my god..it would be ten times more useful.

My screen shots where suppose to prove that it was not daisy chained...
The first set was from the far most left, their close enough together if it where daisy chained they all would have the gray dust around there waist.

The Second set I proved they where close enough to affect one another, meaning the ranger types; the 2 on the most right would have been affected if in fact it where daisy chained....

I should have mentioned that the gray dust is the marker of the AoE spell and was caused by me.

Well you came to the same conclusion; it’s a radius of its own.

the shim, no one has a oppsed the hundred blades theory you mentioned, mostly spells have the 360 degree radius, only one attack I can mention is cyclone axe, thats a melee attack.

I used Enfeeble Blood since gray stands out more than a dark black-ish color does... you can see shadow of fear was in my skill bar...
