Matching for GvG - Guild Wars Forums

I'm part of a guild new to GvG, and we are trying to get some good practice in so that we can improve.

Why then do we keep getting matched against really good guilds, that slaughter us effortlessly? We're not getting the chance to practice anything, it's just unfair.

Surely there is something going wrong with the matching system if a guild ranked 7000 is placed against a guild ranked 600? And it's not just every now and then, it's every time we try.

Are any other guilds out there having the same problems?

It is a frustration, and I really wish it was possible to do a random unrated match rather than having to knowing the name of the guild you wish to challenge to an unrated match. It's happened to my guild a few times, but thankfully we pulled out with victories.

Very annoying when you're just looking for the experience and you're faced against players with far more knowledge than you. Although the same is true for tombs, you aren't guarenteed to fight players of equal skill. But at least in tombs your ladder rank isn't at risk.

This has already been discussed several times. The matching is based on rating not rank. You can be matched up instantly with anyone within 200 points of your rating. After a given amount of time if there are no teams playing that are withing 200 points of yourself then the search expands.
