Hand Axe vs. White Scythe - Guild Wars Forums

I have a Hand Axe. I also have a White Scythe. It seems to me that they are both identical in every way. Yet the White Scythe skin is worth more.

I don't get it.

Why is this?

Rarity. People will pay much more for a name, even if it looks the same.

People like to think that something is rare to find, yet with the same stats as anything else, they MUST have it at any price just to show off how much money they have...people these days.

the skin rocks tho - I dont care about which name

stationary sephis might get my nod for best look - but in action?
this one - you're holding it near the end, not all the way up the shaft, and it goes to town in a fight

Um...correct me if I'm not understanding something here. But wouldn't it be that nobody else ever sees the name unless the holder walks up to the guy and opens a trade window with them?

And if so, do people actually do that? Do they go: "Hey buddy lookie here, I'm leeter than you because I have an axe that is identical to yours in every way, except for the name that appears on the tradescreen, which most people will never see. Unless of course I make a point of bragging about it and opening a tradescreen with you just to show you the name, like I am doing right now!"?

I suppose it also applies to CTRL + CLICKING one's weapon, the same sort of question applies in that case too.

I agree with you Navaros, but to a collector, it makes a world of difference knowing that you have something that only a few others have.

For example, a gold Aegis or Shield of the Wing with the EXACT SAME STATS as Malinon's Shield will likely go for 100K more.

Same thing for Sephis Axes - they have the same look as the Razorstone, but if you found one that had 14% over 50% it will go for 5-6 times the asking price for the green item.

That's more understandable though isn't it, because Razorstones don't have a plus 30HP mod hence it could be argued that they suck for that reason. Whereas a gold Sephis can be equipped with that mod.

besides rare skins are nice cuz you can make your char say what theyre using i do it everytime to say that its a sephis XD

so true. for a while i was in this "must have chaos axe" phase. until i realized just how badass the hand axe looks. I mean, c'mon, it's just RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing sexy!

So now I'm all hand axes. They're easier on the budget too.

I like that people hunt for these 'rare' skins as i personally have a bit of a different opinion about what looks good i get to sell items that people want and spend naff all buying things i like because people don't see them as worth as much.
