Default Chaos Fingers - W/ME versus W/Mo

Howdy,

First..

Does chaos fingers remove the topmost enchantment?

Or all of them?

Also, if chaos fingers targetted a w/me who had an enchantment on him, would it be removed?

you will loose 1 enchantment per hit (beginning on the top) as long as there are enchantments to remove.
additionally you will gain 1 condition per hit (warrior) - mostly starting with blind Oo

a wme with IW would not loose his enchantments - from fingers of chaos... there is still mesmerfolk around that will use shatter enchantment (so cover your important ones)

We use W/Me tanks, as we run two boon prots as our backline in Tombs. Protting a tank up with Shielding Hands, Guardian.. etc. Even Prot Spirit if they have DP, or are taking big hits. Having those stripped off every time they took hits would be most annoying.

So prot on the warriors still works, as long as the warriors are w/me.

So why don't I see more w/mes and prot monks?

Is this not common knowledge?

I always see w/mos and people demanding I drop prot in favour of full heal.

1) Because people are stupid... I see people DEMANDING W/Mo in their groups.. I just lol @ them.

2) IMO a prot monk is not needed in Tombs... Chaos Fingers are NOT the only thing which remove enchantments as stated before... 2 full heal monks are plenty for tombs, again IMO.

#1 is dead on, people don't pay attention to anything in this game. You see W/R (/R can't block or evade) trying to stance tank and W/Mo (/Mo loses enchants with every hit) casting mark of protection on themselves. The only two types of warriors you should even consider accepting into your group are W/Me and W/E (if they don't have the /Me quest done and you want to get going right away.)

#2) Prot monks are extremely useful. In particular the boon prot build works very well. You have healing and prot going on to keep your tanks alive. Part of the reason people don't run prots down there is they run W/Mos. While there is enchantment stripping, there isn't enough to bother a boon prot. Most boon prot enchants are short and easily reapplied. The problem is running into a good PvE player who knows how to prot monk is a miracle.

If you are playing PvE tombs and do not use your secondary go and change it to /Me, there is no penalty for being mesmer in PvE Tombs.

Chaos Fingers is a... "stance," for lack of a better word for the Graspings and the Scythes in the Black Hole. Depending on both your primary and secondary class, it has the following effects:

Warriors - Conditions are applied each hit (cripple, blind, and bleeding, I think)
Ele - Interrupted each hit
Rangers - Stances become ineffective
Monk - One enchantment removed each hit.
Necromancer - One hex removed from the monster each hit.

Mesmers have no penalty.

Prot monk ftw. :O

Not exactly; Mantra of Resolve and the like still work. Rangers just can't dodge or block attacks from a monster with Fingers of Chaos. They can still avoid attacks through use of Blind.

Me and my group ran a 2 tank group (+ the whole load)...
We had a W/Mo (me) and a W/Me, the monks had already complained about this second proffesion problem stuff, so I want to proof them wrong! So the funny thing was, both the tanks were enchanted with prot skills and look what happend, the W/Me got entirely stripped! So this .../Mo is just a bluff..

if chaos fingers is a stance, should tanks be bringing wild blow to cancel it or does the stance have a very short recharge like it probably does?

I've gone thru tombs before, but in trapper groups, so i don't know.

The /Me is losing his enchantments to the occasional Chained Soul or Banished Dream Rider. The /Mo is losing his enchantments to Chained Souls, Banished Dream Riders, Grasps of Insanity, and Scythes of Chaos. And you can't use Spell Breaker to stop enchantment removal by the Grasps or Scythes.

I run a W/Mo stance tank and have no problem once so ever. My armor is usually so high to the point where all I need is the occasional WoH or Orison. I don't see why people are so up in arms about not being able to prot spirit or healing seed their tank. I never need them on mine but I guess thats just me.

Another option the w/me has is Manta Of Flame. There's a certain satisfaction as a tank, in being able to stand your ground in 1 or 2 meteor showers.

to all of the w/mo's out there who refuse to change their secondary in order to prove that you can still complete tombs, please... stop... talking.

first of all, i would like to clarify that yes, it is entirely possible for you to still complete tombs as a w/mo. there is absolutely nothing to prove. and no, it isn't due to you being so good or your armor being so high, but to your monks who are keeping you alive.

the point of argument arises when you have a prot monk on the team. if you have no prot monks and all monks are full heal, then there is no problem. by all means, go as a w/mo. however, being a w/mo reduces the effectiveness of any prots that may be cast on you. but like i said, with no prot monks, it isn't a problem. similarly, if you have no curses or other hexes being thrown around, w/n isn't a problem.

they key here is adapting yourself to the team. if you are a w/mo and you insist on joining a team with a prot monk just to prove yourself, you're only proving your selfishness. all it does is create more work for the healing monk if the prot monk can't do anything about you. if you really insist on staying as a w/mo, then make sure that any team you join is prot monk free. yes, you can stay as a w/mo. but please make sure your build fits with the team build. it is a team game, after all.

I don't refuse to change my secondary I'm just trying to say its possible to do Tombs with no complications with a W/Mo stance tank. To each his own :P

I don't even use most of my Monk skills on my Warrior just simple mend ailment and a res of some kind depends on situation.I use most of my Warrior skills as that is who I am and I don't use breeze.There is still a place for W/MO in the game still.
