Contrary to what many people here like to whine about...

Yes, there are still many people playing the original Guild Wars campaign. Some are veterens going back to reminisce, some are new players who wanted to see what came before Factions. Whatever thier reasons, they are indeed there.

Welcome to Guild Wars, and to Guru as well.

There's still plenty of people still playing the original Guild Wars. Not as many as before, of course, but you won't have any trouble finding folks to go questing with.

Most people will tell you that playing Chapter 1 is a better way to learn the ins and outs of the game, because progression up the levels is more gradual and you can learn more along the way (I agree). Plus, in Prophecies you can gain many skills through quests - something you can't do in Factions (Chapter 2). Each chapter can be played as a stand alone game or combined on the same account. When Combined, you get 6 character slots and each character can access all areas of both chapters. On sepereate accounts, you'll get 4 solts on each account, but you'll be limited to the content of that chapter.

Hey, there's over 2 million of us out there, and more than enough to populate the two continents!

The original Guild Wars (now known as Prophecies) and the "expansion" (Factions) are both stand-alone games. This means you can own either of them without needing the other.

The original is much larger than Factions, and there are still plenty of people playing it. Give it a shot - once you've really got into it, you'll find you want to buy Factions as well!

Welcome and have fun

[edit] meh, I type too slow

You ant missing much with just Factions considering you get all the weapon types, cept for JUST a few, unlike prophecies misses like 75% of all weapon types. Most faction skills are replacas of prophecies skills, so you are not missing anything. But Prophecies offer much more friendly environment, so you can consider prophecies better, because face it if you cant farm, and leveling up doesnt mean ANYTHING then you cant get much things without working hard or using up a lot of time. I like games where leveling up means SOMETHING, prophecies has a 45% of that, so I rate prophecies better. Because why bother leveling if it doesnt mean you can kill easier?

Given the fact that the OP has Prophecies and was asking about Factions... I do believe you have your wires crossed... Decent advice either way though, to an extent...

lol i do, guess I posted too much and thought it was a different thread lol. Well, since you got only prophecies, a lot of people play it, but in factions, Alliance Battle is HUGE, I say. Your missing a lot of "good" weapons, but no biggie, crystalline is still da best. No good farm areas in Factions, missions a bit wierd, so only thing I you would be getting from factions that would be big is the "good" weapons, and Alliance Battle.. Most people hang in prophecies if that was what you were looking for.
