Default Skill Quests

I was wondering, if my primary profession is a Necromancer and the secondary is a ranger, would I be able to do a quest that grants the reward of a monks skill and get it? I know I wouldnt be able to use it at the time but if I changed my secondary profession into a monk later on, would the rewarded skill be available to choose for that character?

EDIT: Also wondering how most players divide their attribute points for a warrior. I'm trying to go for Swordsmanship, Tactics and Strength but I dont know how much to invest in each one.

1 - I believe you have ot have your 2ndary profession as a monk at either the time of starting the quest, finishing it or both (not sure).

2 - Generally you make the choice between tactics and strength, and fill your choice and your selected weapon specialisation to 12, then apply runes and so on. Then you just spend the spare points where ever you want.

Ah, much thanks ^_^ Will I still be able to do the quests if either my primary profession or secondary is not of the class or will it just not show the quest for me at all untill I change to a monk?

A 12:10:8 split on attribs is generally the standard way to go, DO NOT 1:1:0 go as many would have you believe!!!! If you wish to use a secondary profession attribute decide how much 8, 10, or 12. Obviously until you have most/all attribute points it will be more efficient to minimize the number of attributes you spread your points over however. There are times when its ok to go 4 attribute spread, but watch it carefully.
On the monk quests. I believe in Elona you'll either be a monk when you accept the quest and get monk skills, or be a ranger and get ranger skills. I think the only time it matters is when you accept the quest.

Ahh, thanks a ton. But does that mean that people cant join parties together to do one quest that has a reward of a warrior skill? Or would doing a quest in a party together give each party member a skill for their own profession?

Subliminal bump >.>;;
Does anyone even understand my last question? XD

EDIT: Also wondering if the Ranger skill "Apply Poison" would poison all enemies hit with a "Barrage (elite)" attack that is fired after the preparation is done. Apply Poison says all foes struck by a "physical attack" but I'm not too sure if this would include skills.

EDIT #2: Nevermind, forgot about the fact that barrage removes all your preparations.

Skill quest rewards are given out to the people based on the professions like so:
you have 4 peopel questing together: Mo/Me, W/E, P/R, and a N/D
They all take a quest that gives them skills for both their primary and secondary professions. In this case each person gets a completely different quest reward b/c of their class.
The Mo/Me gets monk and mesmer skills.
The W/E gets warrior and elementalist skills.
The P/R gets paragon and ranger skills.
The N/D gets necromancer and dervish skills.

If that didn't answer your question I can try again

-edit to answer new question-
Barrage removes all preparations before you shoot so no, apply poison would not poison multiple enemies with barrage.

Do you have a particular quest in mind?

In prophecies, when you did quests, the skill reward was based on the individual, no matter who was in group. I would assume that it would stay the same.

Ahhhh, much thanks! ^_^
So, I'm guessing each quest has its own version for each character class so that people in a party can all do the same thing while completing their own quests? I'm mostly just worried about being able to find a party that is trying to do the same quest or have the same quest objective as I am... it sounds like it could be difficult if there were completely seaporate quests for each character class.

And I dont have any single quest in mind, I just want to be able to do all of them with a party if I can without any confusion XD I actually havent even been able to make it past the character creation screen of the game, my brand new computer is in the repair shop now but I'll be getting it within a week and start playing Guild Wars right away! Been waiting to play this game for ages... been combing through almost everything and asking questions like mad!

And sorry for asking so many of them XD ^.^;;

EDIT: Gotta goto bed, I'll be back in this thread in the morning or after work. I'll try to avoid creating a new thread if I have other questions.

Yep, you get the skills rewarded to you that are listed in the quest window. If you change your secondary profession after you've taken the quest, the quest rewards will update to show the skill from your new profession.
