Default Dye Remover -- What happened to it?

Why has the dye remover disappeared? I was looking to re-dye one of my 15k sets black, but with my current dye it turns out too dark. The dye remover is gone so I can't change back to the original color. Now what?

I have actually heard Grey dye doesn't work the same? Maybe I heard incorrectly though.

So is there a way to change the color of your armor?

nah all they did was change the base colour of armour to grey, so now dye remover is grey dye...

Oooh I see. So instead of removing it to that particular armors original color, everythings color is grey.

Kind of like having the starting color of a wall be green and painting it blue and have it be the exact blue. Then when it's blue you can either paint it red with a blue mixture or you can paint in green then red to have the exact red you want? Is that kind of what it is?

or its like painting a green wall - blue - then painting it green again...

Shoot, when I dyed my 15k armor grey, then black, but it looks the same as it did when I had the blue on it. You can't see any texture at all, it looks like just a cheap, solid color and it's hideous.

Cool are the combinations for white dye viable still ?

Hello everyone, just want to say that its a pleasure being among fellow guild wars players. This being my first official post in this great site, makes it quite an honor.

Concerning dye remover it use to be a key ingredient in making white. I take it that the new grey dye that replaced the dye remover is to help promote the sale of the new white dye, which was implemented with the release of the Nightfall expansion. All is not lost however; since Ivory white can still be produced using a yellow and three silvers, quote me if I'm wrong. I also noticed that old dye in storage are not stackable with new dyes that are bought or found.

Dye remover was 50g... white dye is 12k or so

I have a female ranger with 15k druids... i used dye remover on that set and imo that looks great (tried several dye mixes but i didnt like those). Now i am afraid (it happened several times before: undyed necro scares anyone?) that anet will ruin that armor by yet another "improvement" to the dye system. I dont have a clue how i can achieve the same effect without dye remover... and i dont gave the cash to experiment with white dyes. GG anet

Dunno why they removed base colours... grey is so boring and a cop out... were they bored colouring the new armours or something?

They removed it to make it a "money grabber". Basically, all the money we now earn is spent on dye, as every set of armour needs dye now. Cos walking around in grey is cheap and looks nasty.

Where as it used to be, if you bought say early Tormentors, you didn't have to dye it you could just leave it green.

It takes money out of the economy.

I'm sorry but that makes no sense at all! How can you complain that the variant of black you get is "too dark"? By it's very nature Black is the darkest colour possible, anything that's slightly lighter than pure black will be grey and ergo not black anymore.

I'm finding the dye a little strange to use, I don't see it as a replacement though as its effect is so different.

I'm actually seeing a lot of people walking around in gray armor now, especially in areas befor eyou get the chance to make 60-80AL armor. It seems to make sense not to waste dye on armor that's going to be replaced as soon as you get the chance to get better armor...at least it make sense to those of us without a lot of plat on characters.
