Default Edge of the World glitch (Eredon Terrace)

I've heard people talk about this a few times now, but I was wondering, what exactly is this?

It is a glitch in the Great Northern Wall mission (in prophecies). When you get to the cutscene, if you turn around and sprint past the Charr where Bonfaaz Burntfur and his army were, go through the big door and follow that path, you'll eventually get to part of the area where you can see the "edge of the world"

Yeah, I know you can get to one in Prophecies, but I heard about one near Eredon Terrace, in Factions.

Well, first of all, you can't do it anymore because Henchies and Heros won't walk through area transitions anymore. But to answer your question - it was an exploit where you could flag your heros/henchies to walk past an area transition and then use assassin skills to recall to them, allowing you to walk around inside Eragon Terrace from the explorable map - which allowed you to pass through gates and stuff and get about .3 extra mapping.

Not sure if this still works or not but this is what I remember:

If you are part of the alliance that owns this town, you can access a glitched area behind the exclusive area that allows you to enter the outskirts of the town. Although the area explored is permanently in fog on the map, it counts for a few tenths of exploration. Alternatively, you can simply grab several henchmen, then exit the town. Stand so that you facing the thin barrier that designates entering back to town. Rotate so that your henchmen are ahead of you (i.e. all inside the town). Use Recall or Return on the furthest henchmen. It may take several tries, but this will teleport you into the town area without zoning in. You will find the door barring the exclusive area closed, but you can walk right through it, accessing both the exclusive area as well as the glitched area behind. This is equivalent to 0.3 or 0.4%

You didn't need to be in a controlling alliance to do the trick, in fact, if you are in a controlling alliance you don't need to do the trick, because you already have access to that area. :P

Yeah, you are right. I realized what I said ...and i am too lazy to edit it. I think I mixed things up a bit. If you are part of the controlling alliance, then yeah...you don't need to do anything because you already have access to that. If you aren't part of it, then do thet trick. I think that is what I meant to say.

But you can't do to the trick with henchies anymore?

I honestly don't know. I am not sure if ANet ever fixed it or just decided to be lazy and let it be. it has been quite awhile since I have done it. Someone else might know.

Not sure if any other method has been fixed but if you send a henchie/hero through a portal now, they will teleport to your location. It's been like that for several months at least. I use this when running now. I flag the heroes by the portal and if I make a mistake and die, I send one through the portal so they teleport to my location and rez me using an equipped rez sig.

Hostile the NPCs on the shrine outside, and get the merch to run INTO Erredon Terrace. Deathly Charge or w/e you want onto him and explore.

This worked yesterday. Pretty decent chunk of real estate to add to your cartographer if your having trouble.

I managed to get in by using return on the merchant. I don't see how this could add up a lot though, I only noticed one unfog, the one in the alliance-only area. Or is their a way to get behind the other gate?
