Default Potential scam; can I report?

I was just in Kamadan selling something for 15k, and a person whispered me saying he would like to see the item (a 20/20 bow string). I show it to him, and he offers me 0 gold and clicks accept. I tell him that the item is 15k and he modifies his offer to 15 gold. I then tell him I've taken screenshots and I'm going to send them to ANet. He says he made a mistake and logs off, but it was clearly no mistake. I have a few screenshots of this and was wondering, would ANet take action if I sent them the screenies?

Yes, you can, but I doubt they'll do anything. I reported similar jerks a few times and got no response.

You can report but he hasn't actually breached the EULA by scamming you

They won't do anything because:

1) It's your word against his, he can just say: "It was a mistake"
2) No one cares, PlayNC has better things to worry about (although they don't) then some persons bow string and in game gold.

I'm sure they have better stuff to do, but it's just the concept of someone trying to scam another player that gets under my skin. I hate people who do it, having been a victim myself but for a substantially larger sum. It's a shame this behaviour occurs, and I'm not going to report him/her, I was just wondering if it would be possible. Thanks for the fast replies people!

you can try, but imo, Anet/playNC never do anything about scammers, iv been scammed before, the good old ectos scam, took scrennshots, sent an email, told them the exact time, district, characters names, they emailed me back asking for more details....you get the idea, scamming is and always will be unbeatable, people will always do it and PlayNC will never stop them.

Reporting Violations
Question
How do I report violations?

Answer

If you encounter any players who you believe violate our guidelines with inappropriate actions, vulgar language, offensive character or guild names, advertising of cheats or exploits, or any breaches of our User Agreement or Rules of Conduct, we'd like to know about it. Please note the details of the situation and use our online help tool's Ask a Question form at http://www.guildwars.com/support/ to inform us of the violation.

Here are some examples of violation details that you should send along with your report:

The name of the character being reported
The name of the character you were playing at the time of the encounter
The time of the incident (with time zone)
The name of the map zone where the incident took place (or even the location within the zone)
A description of the offending action, dialogue, or name
A screenshot of the incident (please ensure any screenshots are in JPEG/.jpg or GIF/.gif format and under 2 megabytes in size before you attach them to your message)
Any other details that you feel are relevant
We will use the information you have provided to investigate whether a violation of the rules has occurred. If we do find any rules have been broken, we will take action.

However, due to our Privacy Policy (http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...cy-policy.php), we will not be able to provide you with any details of the investigation. This means that we will not be able to confirm if any action was, or was not, taken. This is because all information related to the discovery and disciplining of an account will only be discussed between the violator and customer support.

Please be assured that the Guild Wars team takes User Agreement and Rules of Conduct violations very seriously. We thank you in advance for helping us maintain an enjoyable playing environment.

That's true in a sense. There's no actual clause which disallows scamming or attemtpive scamming however it can be considered 'griefing' which is against the EULA.

Still, I doubt they'd do much although they might have a 'marker' system whereby they note accounts' misbehaviour. If the attemptive scammer was persistent then the support team would pick up on it and take action, I think.

If random people come up to me and offer something that i never asked for or wanted then I always click accept without offering any money just to annoy them. And to see if they stupidly click accept too

If it were me I wouldn't bother reporting. You'd be wasting your time

Agreed, you could complain but then you'd probably get more frustrated at anets lack of response.

I've been scammed too in the past, took screenshot, dates, times, names etc etc & seemingly nothing happened.

I know they won't come back to us about what they do, ie. talk to the violator etc but it'd be nice to get even a response saying that the person concerned has been spoken to.

That wouldn't take muuch to do would it now anet ? and it might appease the aggro'd player who got scammed.

That's what they do have. They've said they have 'account marks'. It follows logically that there are ones that don't impose a ban.

Despite all of the contrary opinions, go ahead and report the scumbag. If you've got the screen shots, there's no question of him/her trying to rip you off. It may be the person's first attempt at scammming (Hah!), or his 100th, so they may get a 24 hour ban, or something a bit longer. The fact that you'll never know for sure shouldn't deter you. Just be glad to know that you did the right thing whether A-Net does or not.

As stated, ANet does not notify the reporting player(s) of any actions taken, so quite often players think nothing was done and it is useless to report anything.

Not so, if you accummulate enough small violations, you will get punished. So, keep reporting. Also, the Rules of Conduct first item is:

"While playing Guild Wars, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players."

Can you not read? I didn't get scammed, I merely took screenies of him trying to scam me, and was wondering what ANet's stance is on the issue at hand.
