With the advent of widescreen tft's one wonders if theres going to be a widescreen option for GW2.

Quick question (sounds noobie after all the vista advice I've given out recently, but...) I'm getting my first Widescreen 19" tft tomorrow (if it arrives, if not I'm gonna kick off to the business I bought it from...)

So anyway, how do you set up a widescreen?

no biggie, nothing wrong with asking about what you don't know.
The widescreen setting is 1400x9...920 or 940 i forgot :P anyway it's on the buttom list of the resolution setting. Go in to the graphic setting and you'll see it, it will turn up when you connect the new monitor. Any graphic card from gfx5900 upward will be ok.

You can use that setting for window desktop as well, the "stretch to fit" option from the monitor is rubbish, turn it off. Just be sure to get a new wallpaper that fit the widescreen.

Like a normal PC I guess...GW will detect your native resolutions I reckon.

I've been running Guild Wars at 1650x1050 on a 20.1 inch widescreen lately, and it really does look absolutely gorgeous, giving an almost 3D quality to the game.

Guild Wars genuinely suports widescreen and expands the visible area to show more of the environment (rather than just stretching the displayed area to fit the screen).

It's great to have your Party and hero windows and your radar at the side of the screen and still have a huge visible game play area.

I even actually have 2 monitor's, 1 15" for msn&console views etc, and 1 17" for mainstream programs. I can stretch GW to fit both, even thought they have different native resolution.

I do not think that they will be based on directX10. Windows maybe unless they release the long awaited Mac platform.

Most of the new games come with widescreen and widescreen is replacing square screen. So, of course gw2 will be able to widescreen.

It has already been stated that GW2 will be DX10, but like crysis and similar, it will scale back to DX9 compatability for those less fortunate

Yeah according to Miss Grey, GW2 will support both DX9 & 10. But then again by the time it comes out, everyone will be using dx10 card anyway. Well maybe most not all, it still 2 years away.

BTW samurai, how's your monitor?

Thank for correcting me. I always had that impression that DX10 games will not come out till next year.

Yea, how is your monitor? SS your desktop and let us see.

30" is overkilled.

Using a projector to play on a wall while lying on the bed is fun too.
