Default Troubles with guild.

Hello,
I recently (About -3 months ago) returned to the game after a LONG abscence (About 8 months). Upon retuning I joined my current guild (Who's name shall remain anonymous, as I still have respect for peoples privicy.)
Now, I have put quite a bit of work into this guild. I have brought a number of members in, earnt my officer position, stayed with them when they left our alliance (Under terms I did not agree with) and in general been as pleasent as I could be. Multiple times when our leader wanted someone invited but was on a PvP character or something I did it for him.
Our leader left the guild for a while, putting me in charge, and yet we convinced him to come back and I happily gave him his leadership back.

Anyway, on with what I was saying, I apologise for trailing off a little.
Recently things have been... different, the main thing here is our leader invited a person none of us knew (My guess is one of his friends) and decided to make them leader. They have demoted all but 2 of us to members.
This has kind of, struck a nerve on me.
For one, there were a number of us who have worked to earn our leader respect, and the fact that he has made this random person leader is kind of irritating (Its not his spare account, thats in another guild.)
And two, the fact that this person has demoted those of us who have proven ourselves worthy, meaning we have to try and earn their respect yet again.

My question is this, is it time for me to move on? (As one of the other most respected officers in the guild has done), or should I try and find out what on earth is going on and see if I can earn the respects of this new leader?
I have a number of friends in this guild I do not want to leave, though a few of them could be coaxed into changing guild with me.

It just seems like all the time and money (Virtual though it may be) that I have put into this guild has vbeen wasted so suddenly with me having no say whatsoever in it.

Thank you in advance for reading this and for your advice given.

If I was you I would leave and try and get some friends to leave as well. The new leader doesn't sound like that nice a guy and it seems like he doesn't respect the people who worked hard for the guild. I'm the leader of my guild and I always speak to my officers about promotion and hold a poll about things like the alliance or cape so we end up doing what the guild wants. Hope that helps

FUN!

Well, if no reason was given for the demotion, I'd say that was very bad form of the new leader.

Whether it's time for you to move on, I think only you can answer that. Consider the new feel of the environment you are in, and consider whether it can be changed to an environment that you would be happy with, and consider how much effort it would be to do so. Given all this, will this guild make you happy and enhance your enjoyment of the game? Or would you just be in a bad situation trying to deflect as much pain as possible?

Sadly, one of the things that get forgotten in the midst of politics and the drive to form a guild or alliance in a certain way is that this is a game. If your guild or alliance is more frustrating than rewarding, then it's time to move on in my opinion.

Anyway, my 2 cents. Good luck with your situation!

I'd say give your leaders, new and old, a chance to explain themselves. If what they say doesn't constitute a valid excuse, then move on.

I thank you all for your replies, we managed to sort out the guild no wand convinced the old leader to take up his position again. While its not perfect, I am content with this guild for now.
