Default What happens if someone gets an already used minipet key?

Hi all,

Due to some oversight, PC Gamer decided not to seal the magazines, which contain the new destroyer minipet code.

The question is this, what happens if someone gets a magazine, and someone else had already activated the key? Will ANet remove the key from the account that doesn't have proof of purchase? Or will they do absolutely nothing?

I (And a few guildies) wish to get the magazine, but if the code might already have been used, that rather deters us from purchasing the magazine.

Has anyone had this problem yet? If so, what action did support take, and who did you contact?

Thanks all,

~ReT~

ANet won't do anything. Typically if you have a bad or used code, you contact the magazine and they replace it for you.

I hope they do what they did last time:
Put new codes in the next magazine! I got two grey giants

Underneath the code in the magazine it says "Bought this issue but your code isn't working? No problem! Email us at [email protected] and we'll get your sorted at." Probably would have to put the serial code and stuff.

What Knoll said. Stupid that they didn't think of this before.

Can't say I myself am worried, because 1. I already bought it and have it, and 2. I think only like three people play Guild Wars in Michigan, myself included. It's very unpopular here.

that's good news. glad their f-up was anticipated. I haven't found one yet (the right issue) so I've been getting a bit worried that by the time I do, it's code will be entered

hmm. that's not so bad.

But shouldn't the people that are stealing the codes, be banned from the game? It'd not comforting to know I'm playing with thieves.

Because, y'know... A.Net is just going to know who went down to a local EB Games, flipped through a few pages of PC Gamer, jotted down the code and left.
Yeah. They're really that dedicated.

And if you don't find it comforting to know you play with thieves, what has been keeping you alive for the duration of your life? There are thieves all around you. You probably associated with them and didn't even realize it. Did it hurt you? Well obviously not, you most likely aren't even aware.

Just pick one from the back of the magazine rack. I mean, do that anyway so that the x-people who came before and got their grubby hands all over the one in the front. But just pick one from the very back of the magazine rack.

Because Anet never intended you to buy the magazine for the minipet. It's just a little thank you for buying the magazine..

In addition, they don't really care..

I thought the Destroyer of Flesh and the Destroyer of Sinew had the same model.

I do that all the time for those very same reasons. Glad I'm not the only one.

well actually i think the middle would be the safest... ppl who get the codes generally want to get the code entered the fastest without anyone getting it entered before them so they take the back ones, the front ones are for the kids who get the codes...hehe little noobs. Anyways i got mine in the middle cause i think its the safest.

It's a Special Guild Wars Issue: Ultimate Guild Wars Guide

note: There were only two issues on the rack when I got mine. Grabbed the one in the back. It worked.

I had this happen with the last PC Gamer minipet (Asura I believe). Emailed the address provided, and they did fix it ... eventually. Took a few emails and about 3 weeks of waiting though. Not the end of the world, but they could've done better.
