Having more experience, and therefore more skill points, means you can buy more ridiculously overpowered Essence of Celerities.

They aren't that overpowered....they only allow you to have some of the 'bonuses' that every monster has inherently in hard mode.

There isn't really any point to being able to ping your xp or skill points. It's just one of those things that someone would ask for in the sardelac section if it wasn't available in-game.
