Default HM Char deletion

I know that you can get to HM by beating a campaign after HM was installed. The question is can the char who beat a campaign after HM was implemented be deleted and still allow other chars to access HM?

Hard mode is unlocked account-wide.

Once you beat the campaign, any character on that account has HM unlocked for the same campaign.

If you've only finished a campaign with one character, and choose to delete that character, you will no longer be able to enable HM.

I'm pretty sure Jade is wrong here. I'm damn near certain that HM is "unlocked" for your whole account. I say "near" for a reason; I'm not certain as I've never bothered to delete characters that have beaten a campaign.

And I still somehow need 12 characters after copying that.

I have bothered to delete them, and it does remove access to hard mode.

I posed this same question sometime earlier this year, because the wiki description is so ambiguous. Receiving no satisfactory answer, I tested it myself. I deleted the only character who had finished Nightfall on my second account and was consequently incapable of playing hard mode in Elona.

Unless this has been changed recently, you must have an active character finished with each respective campaign to use HM.

Another wiki entry:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Hard_mode
Quote:
To access hard mode, a player must first complete the final mission of a campaign normally. As long as one character on an account has completed a campaign, all level 20 characters on that account will gain access to hard mode for that campaign.
That makes it sound like if the only character to complete a campaign on your account is deleted then you will lose access to HM. The discussion page doesn't seem to offer any support of that specific question.

However, the OP's specific question is asked in a a section of the wiki discussion on this topic that has been moved to this page: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Talk:Ha...aign_Completer

No answer yet though, so hard to be sure.

GAH!

Does anyone bother to read? I'm telling you for the third time that I've investigated this exact scenario, and you WILL LOSE HARD MODE.

How much clearer must I be?

Thanks for testing this scenario, October Jade. Good to know for those remaking characters for whatever reason.
