Default Ascension tests teleporter...LIES!

So, I am talked to Zahmut and he brings me to an area with 3 ghosts, talk to the 3 ghosts. Head over to what I'm assuming is a teleporter. It looks different from the desert teleporter's as there is no beacons that light up. So I walk to the middle of the white circle, nothing happens. I move around and see if lights come up on the rocks with symbols slightly infront of the teleporter. They do nothing. I look around, explore the area. I hold alt to see if there is anything i can click on, there isn't. I stare blankly into my screen baffled with confusion with not the slighest hint of how to work the blasted teleporter. I really do want to go to thirsty river to start my tests for ascension.

So please, someone tell me how to work this thing!

Did you press them in the same order they lit up in? If you do it right, then the middle should glow and you can step into the shining....glimmering.....light.......

Please read post... There is nothing for me to press, nothing that lights up. As it is not your typical desert teleporter. I am assuming it works differently. It doesn't even look the same.

Hang on - that teleporter only works after you've completed Thirsty River. And Elona Reach. And Dunes of Despair.

You've got to wander the desert and find 'em yourself, y'know

Have you done the Thirsty River, Dunes of Despair, and Elona Reach missions? You have to go out into the Crystal Desert and find these places or get someone to run you to them. Only after you complete these three missions will the teleporter work in Augury Rock.

Thank you. The Quest Chain brought me to Zahmut, so I was assuming the place he brought me was bringing me to my test. But I see, you are saying I have to find them and complete them. Kind of weird, But that helps, Thanks!

Also, once you have completed all 3 missions and return to the teleporter, it still won't 'light up' like the others in the desert. From memory (its been a while) you step onto the teleporter and you're set on fire (of sorts), you then need to step on to the 3 circular rocks around the teleporter (doesn't matter in which order).

After that, sit back, enjoy the cinematic, and then, well ..er.. you kill yourself .

Cheers.

While I have to somewhat agree - I too teleported my first time and expected to go right to Ascension, however if you bother to read the three ghost they make it fairly clear:

Lord Vlador: "I stood before Turai Ossa at the battle of Jahai. I was there when he vanquished Palawa Joko. And I carried him from the field of battle when he finally fell at the hands of the Forgotten, here in the Crystal Desert. Ascension is only available to those who are worthy of rising from the ranks of humanity. Seek out the Thirsty River, to the east. There you will prove your worth and be cleansed of your earthy imperfections."

Commander Joziah: "I am Commander Joziah, leader of men, vanquisher of dragons, and lover of women. For more than two hundred years I have stood by Turai Ossa, and I will stand by him two hundred more if that is what it takes. You have reached your final destination on your quest for Ascension, but you have arrived before you are ready. Head northeast to Elona Reach. There you may reassemble the Vision Crystal. Be warned, this is no trifling task. Elona Reach is where our people failed to Ascend."

and finally General Mendoza: "In life, I was the general of the Elonian army. I served Turai Ossa at the battle of Jahai. Even in death, I still serve him. Before you can gain entrance to Augury Rock, you must travel south to the Dunes of Despair. There you will aid Turai Ossa in infiltrating the Temple of Ascension and garnering the attention of the gods. When their gaze falls upon your shoulders, you will be one step closer to Ascending. Return here when you have passed this test."

so the entire question was very much answered within the game and is quite clear. If you are following what the NPC's are clearly saying (and if following the main story line you have had to in several instances) then no reason to skip them. And yes their dialog changes as you complete the missions they say to complete so it isn't just a blanket statement they are making.

Like any other RPG talk to the NPC's if you are stuck - there are *only* those three in that area so it's not even like some games where there is some really obscure person in a basement of a building four towns before that will advance the story line.

Though since this has been on of the FAQ's since the beginning I guess don't feel too bad. However looking up one of the myriad walk through's would have pointed you out to the correct answer also. I rather suggest looking at the FAQ's for basic answers as not only will it be more polite, but you generally will not have to wait for an answer since it is there when you search.
