If you have any doubts whether the words you about to say are arduous, it would be best to just keep them to yourself, whispered, or chatted in a place other than guildwars.

But in the EULA it basically says if u verbally abuse someone or use words which pass the filter such as, fuk, you may be potentially banned.

As a side note, I did get banned for two weeks for saying "MY NIPPLES, THEY HURT WHEN I TWIST THEM" about 5 times each round during RA. I blame Mel Gibson from southpark.

Well good, encouraging people to smoke is never good.

Anything that could be taken offensively by people you don't know (so in local chat and PUG's) be careful about. Now I don't mean 'kittens' to people who are allergic to cats, but talking about various bodily functions, over-abundant swearing, using generally offensive terms (like above). Depending on the company you're in, you may be fine, you may not be. I'd say gauge the reaction of your audience first for casual swearing, like in Guilds and such, but try to keep it to a minimum in Local Chat and such. Just because there's a chat filter doesn't mean people won't still get offended.

It's the same catch 22 that you face with "inappropriate" names...ANet won't tell you specifically, so it up to those who are offended...you don't know exactly what is wrong until you do it. ANet's sole discretion to ban you based on whatever people decide to bitch about...Personally, I feel like if you're keeping it to what I would expect from the rating, I'm not likely to have an issue...other people however, can be a bit Carebear about it. Best bet: say nothing.

OP, Read the EULA for yourself and find out what it actually says. After you're done reading it, you should have a good idea of what will get you suspended.

EULA > chat filter.

To simplify the whole thing: If you do not want to get your account suspended, don't use profane/offensive* language in the chat filter!

*What may not be offensive to one person may offend someone else.

The EULA states that Anet have the right to deem what language is, or is not inappropriate...

As afar as I can tell you're fine to swear as long as you're not swearing AT someone. Does that make sense? I don't think they condone swearing, obviously, but I also don't think they ban people for letting slip the odd swear word; hell if they did I'd have been banned long ago!

Basically, just play the game and don't be an ass and you won't have anything to worry about. Is it too much to ask that you don't swear? Geez

Swearing isn't necessarily being an 'ass' as you put it. It's only being as 'ass; if you're directing it at someone. It's not always culturally unacceptable to swear, therefore it's unfair to assume that everyone needs to 'keep it clean' as the game is global. Inappropriate language is at Anet's discretion only, and I will accept censure from them, and them only.

If people are offended by inappropriate language, then they should turn on their language filters....its not like anet put in a filter for no reason..
