Default Guild Advice

I'm new to the Guild Wars Guru site so my apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place. (Took me a few minutes to find a place to post anyways O___O) hehe.
Over the past few months, I have been in guilds that in a few words, weren't my thing. I always get dragged into things by my friends (peer pressure, yikes!) Since I've been on Guild Wars (Early 06) I've always been OK with going at it alone, but I would like to be in a situation where I have somebody to turn to when I need answers or I just need help in a mission that I can't hero-way through. I'm just tired of guilds who promise they are one thing but turn out to be the complete opposite. I guess my real question right now is:
Is it better to give up on guilds all together, or am I a psychocrazyidiot who should be praising the option of so many Guilds?

well, you might be a psychocrazyidiot, but that doesn't mean you should give up on guilds. it means more that you just haven't found what you're looking for. with so many guilds out there it can be tough to find one that you enjoy, but by the same token there is sure to be a guild out there that will fit. don't give up man. the game is a lot more fun when you play with people. at least they say funny stuff sometimes.

IMO look through the Guru guild forums and look for a guild that has requirements that suit you. That way, you're probably going to be with people like yourself.

well i wouldnt give up guilds. it can get lonely and you just might quit gw for being boring but i know there are some loners there without guild. and there will be always someone to ask if you want to join there guild.

guild &alliance advantage.
- you see other people talking bout random stuff
- ocassionally when they are doing something interesting you might join.
- you can make new friends mght take some time but if you participate enough they will like you eventually.
-they can help you
- you can do ab and have other privileges like skill trainers material traders a full guildhal is always good.

disadvantage
- sometimes rude people
- braggers(oh i hate them ) but im one myself hehe
- dont expect help everytime you feel like it. i see people in guild ask for help all the time and they end up leaving cos noone helps them.
its better to ask how its done rather please can someone help me...

last but no least join a guild thats suits you eh are you pve. like doing missions and quist join pve guild.
and as for pvp well if you like to pay again human players in allaince battle random arena team arena whatever then join a pvp guild.

My advice: try to determine as much as possible what you think there should be in a guild.
Also, try to figure out how you would be an asset to such a guild.

When you know this, search for a guild and cross-check them. Find others, current and former guildies or alliance members, who can tell you how things were/are in that guild. Ask former guildies why they left.
Takes a while, but should you get in the kind of guild you are looking for.

When you see people recruit, question them like your crazy(not literally). Such as, Members, Activities, how many people are on atm, Time Zones, How many people are on within past 24 hrs, etc. Recruiters WILL try and deceive you, so question them before you join so if you end up leaving their guild because they lied, you can say "You lied" xD

And piece of advice, don't even try to become an officer, When I first started GW, I was a dedicated player from the start, joined a guild, eventually became officer because I played like 16 hours a day...

Anyways, when you're a dedicated Gamer and are an official in a guild, you tend to never find time for your own fun because you're too busy trying to make sure everyone else is having fun and is getting help when they need it >_<

This is good advice; especially the bit about figuring out what you want from a guild. The good news is that there's a guild out there for almost anyone. I'm so lucky that in my time, I've been in a couple very distinguished and wonderfully talented guilds with people whom I absolutely adore.

Once you figure out what you want, try making a post in this section of the forums: PvE Looking for Guild. Title it appropriately, and then inside put a description of who you are, and a little bit about the kind of guild you're looking for. You may get upwards of 10 responses, or as few as 1 or 2, but it's a great way to learn about more guilds.

There is also the forum section PvE Guild Recruitment, which is where guilds can go and post an advertisement. I suggest you go through these and see if any strike your fancy, as well.

Mostly, I hope you don't give up on guilds. When you find the right one, they make playing the game so much better. Remember that you get as much as you give (not saying you aren't helpful!). A lot of people only do activities that are mutually beneficial, like FoW or DoA. If you're looking for one to help you get through missions and quests, I'd suggest a nore player-friendly guild.
