Default What am I downloading?!

Latly I have been downloading files quite often when I switch districts or cities, even if I was just there a few minutes ago. It's kinda of strange. Say I go to Ascalon download a file, get in, 5 seconds after I get in I switch districts and I have to download some more files? As it's kind of anoying having to wait 5 minutes to download things when all I want to do is take something out of storage >.<

Does this happen to everyone? It's seemed to have only started recently as well.

Thanks!

Faction Preview Weekend, best way to finish it is to leave the game running on the login screen till it finishes downloading everything.

Oh, it downloads that in game as well? I thought that was only if you left it on the login screen...

But I have been leaving it on about all the time I can. I usaully leave it on all night I get 100MB or so per night. =\

Some areas have minor differences like spawn patterns and aren't always the same as every other instance of the same area. I'm not sure what exactly it would be in Ascalon City, though. Factions preview files should not download when you're in game at the loading screen switching areas.

www.guildwars.com

Read it instead of starting threads asking questions plainly answered in the update notes.

I fail to see how the update notes have anything to do with my question. Unless you are seeing something I am not?

They are streaming updates for the factions event.

Like it says, this happens at the login screen. Read more than the thread title, and you'll see how unrelated this is.

Wouldn't you need to load statistics which change the whole time? I mean, your computer will need to show what kind of proffesion someone is etc doesn't it?

(sorry if this sounds silly, im not an expert here , it's just what I always assumed it was)

On the contrary, since the event is open to all existing GW players we all need to be streamed this content.

Yeah, but if you repeatedly go into a certain city, at some point it'll stop saying it's downloading new things. What you're onto is done more in the background, and wouldn't need 5 minutes download anyway. If you notice, mostly after to reinstall the client, and you load into an area, things like armor are downloaded while you're running around. So, I don't think it would be stuff like that either..

I don't know about you ppl but I am getting major lag sometimes with all this streaming.I was helping someone out at the RoF mission and got major lag in effect we failed the mission I lost complete control over my char. for 10 min untill I logged out. When I did log I noticed I was getting 60o to 700 KBS.That is way to much as when I play some other RTS game I usually download mods at 15 to 16 KBS.I was wondering if any of you are haveing the same problems.

I think they did something to the ele staffs, maybe its my imagination but i only noticed it after the streaming stopped. Didnt they all used to be like branches except for a few really cool ones, now theres lots of new skins. again maybe its my imagination....

What do you want, a tiny bit of lag (I haven't noticed any, maybe it's something else of yours) or those dial-up users that will be in your group on the free weekend taking a half hour or more to download the area?
