Unhappy How do you taunt and control agro in this game?

Question:

Do warriors have agro control in this game or not?

Just wondering. Level 7 now (yes I am a new player believe it or not) and still have no way of drawing agro off a caster other than damage spam?

What is the key to this?

Also, a very important point to make...

Warriors are not "tanks" like in other MMOs. Warriors have some of the best offensive abilities in the game. There is no need for pure tanking in Guild Wars as there isn't one hit attacks that deal 7000 damage like in other games.

Tank and spank is one of the slowest ways to actually play the game. The combat system in Guild Wars is completely different.

I've discussed it in the War sticky. Read that.

AI for monsters is set to target lowest armor and lowest health. This is why you cannot draw off the monsters attacking your casters. They already have lower armor and after some hits, lower health than your warrior.

If you flag casters back, your warrior can only keep the aggro until your casters enter range and begin to attack.

Doing high amounts of damage does not increase your "threat", or in any way make the monsters more apt to hit you. If you want to tank as a war, you need to go in ahead of all of your teammates, collect aggro without them being in your aggro bubble at all, and only then after aggro is established can they come in and nuke/cast whatever they want on the mob. Even then, there is a chance that some monsters will break off and attack your casters, especially if anyone uses an AoE spell that does damage in pulses (ie, every x seconds, hit for y damage).

Tanking is only necessary in high end areas, you wont need to bother with that for at least another month
