Default Which Build?

Ok, so i finally made a mesmer primay PvE, and i was wondering.

Which Elite spell should i use? i used migraine for a while, and it help...quite a lot.

Then i used Ineptitude which wasn't as good for the enemies i was fighting at the time, still decent however. Then i got VoR, which is good, but i miss migraine when i use it lol

Then got Power Block just for fun...lol

So, what spell should i use most of the time, i mean i think all 4 are good, but i just can't decide which to use mainly, so i would like your opinions lol

I use VoR since it's AoE and you can't shutdown or control everybody at once, but the ones you miss still get penalized for using skills which is nice. Mostly I just go for the AoE stuff since PvE is about the cluster (well at least NM lol). You could try Fevered Dreams (if you like conditions), Tease (if you can't get enough of Cry of Frustration), Shared Burden (really nice too, general slowing and good for HM I hear), Signet of Illusions (self explanatory), signet of midnight (+ plague touch/sending = blind spam), Echo (if you have an all around build, not a 12345678, would let you double up on something, maybe helpful). All I can think of.

There are good things not elite though. If you like Ineptitude, look at Clumsiness/Wandering Eye, for Migraine look at Frustration/Arcane Conundrum. Sometimes elites are not always deserving of their elite status.

Thank you! Signet of Illusions is on my go-capture list lol

Well, VoR is good for PvE, what do you think is good for PvP OTHER than Power Block?

I use Signet Of Illusions on my mesmer, very nice for getting max ranked PvE skills without getting the max ranks. Throw in arcane echo and some energy management, and kit the bar out with what you like.

Another skill to look at is Lyssa's aura i sometimes run it with Wandering Eye, Clumsiness and Arcane Echo. This gives you the energy to keep spamming 2 of those skills, throw in some more energy management and you can arcane echo one of them and have 3 anti melee spells going.
Also have a look at elites from other professions, Assassin's Promise is powerfull on almost any class, take a look at the Me/A build on pvxwiki.

In terms of PvP, Power Block, Lyssa's Aura (For water magic spamming) and Energy Surge.

Assassin's promise. Load up on high damage illusion spells like wandering eye and clumsiness, maybe one e-management skill and you got a pretty god damage dealer. You can also add CoP if you want for some extra damage and soem degen. Or the ebon assassin for knockdowns.

I use Lyssa's Aura for e-management, since mes's go through energy like a fat kid and twinkies.

lol

There is no right answer to your question. If you want to be really effective as a pve player, you should know a little about the creatures you will be facing. There are different elites that are better for different places.

most of the time you will want high energy, but since enchantment strips are common in Nightfall, you may want some damage skills, AoE mainly.

Energy Surge can come in handy, when echo'ed, it can deal a large spike.

When using Auspiciaus Incantation,(spelling sucks lately, sorry, lol), you can usually re-fil your energy at a high-enough inspiration rank.

Here's a few builds I use for fun on my mes, keep in mind I'm a horribad build maker.

AP-I Echo EVAS over CoP...more single damage for me
OQdTA4B6VaBS0ZJYXMmMGwGMuBA

Lyssa's Antimelee
OQBCAcwULjozSwKACYq4uIGH

E-Surge, general AoE
OQBDArwjRnALB2gaApiiOcAYcA

SoL
OQZCAcwjQFAAAQGAAAAAAjD

Fevered dreams is also a fun choice, but my awesome mesmer is missing it.

I think Power Block is a bit niche. It's not as useful as other spells all the time. For instance, I usually save PB for places where there are several Elementalists which need "managing", like Gate of Pain, or the Charr Homelands, as PB (usually) effectively shuts one down for 14+ seconds leaving you with less to try to interrupt.

I like the combination of Assassin's Promise and Arcane Echo to produce as many Assassins as I can, myself. Combine liberally with other spiking skills as you see fit, and Auspicious Incantation for energy management. (It's good to have some fallback if the Promise fails, though.)

If it's a zone where things aren't dying quick enough (or won't be dying at the point where you need to be at your best, such as in Gate of Madness), Glyph of Renewal and Echo make decent substitutes.

um nothing ATM lol. I love Power Blocking people! You could try those energy stealing/limiting interrupts though. I also see Arcane Languor a lot. If they would buff Earthbind A LOT (and I mean a lot, like that 60 sec recharge time), it woudl be so funny with Psychic Instability.

For PvE I would start with Signet of Illusons. Use elite tome as early as you could if you have enough golds handed down from other chars. Then max out your Illussion attribute and any left over to Fast Cast. Your damage will be godly relative to the starting environment. My choice is to Go Ele as secondary using combination of best damage spells from Fire, Earth and Water lines. Throw in 1 or 2 Inspiration spells for energy management.

Once your have attained lvl 20, try to go Me/A and capture 'Assasssin Promise'. then start to max you EoTN Norm reputation title. The Norm skills 'You Move Like a Dwalf' and 'Finish Him' work well with Fragility and are brilliant support for your 3 Discord necro hero team. Fragility does add quite a lot of damage. You may also need to tweak your necro skills to suit your gameplay.

Get 'You Move Like a Dwalf' in Gunner Holds then use SoI with it to easily capture 'Finish Him' in the Bison Cup match.

With SoI and AP (and supporting the discord necros) a mesmer can breeze thorugh PvE NM and HM faster and better then other chars. The recent neft to Cry of Pain has reduced the damage output, but a good mesmer build still out perform others in support of discord team.

The problem with not going AP is that the elite of choice needs to be able to make up for the fact that you aren't able to unload your 7 other skills every few seconds.
Is VoR a nice skill?
Absolutely!
PB?
Gosh darnit yes!
Lyssas's Aura?
Unlimited energy is ALWAYS sweet!
E-Surge?
AoE damage is pretty pretty!
Ineptitude?
Massive damage AND blind? Sweet baby Jesus - take me now!
But does that make up for not being able to unload CoF, Shatter Hex/Ench, Empathy, E-Burn, Unnatural Signet, Shame, Guilt, Drain Ench, every PvE skill imaginable, ... every few secs?
In the PvE that we play, where heroes are able to take down a foe in mere seconds, the answer is a simple no.

and yes AP<3

But ...KIll MOR!

then un-nerf the recharge times! that are all factored with MOR in mind....then there will be less need to want AP to reload all skills!

And give more effective diversity in bars!
