Default IS GW dead? Reason to come back?

I stopped playing a while after Nightfall was released. I have been recently wondering if I should go ahead and get GWEN and hop back in. Are there any changes to the game? How's the population nowadays?

It's more than ever now. A lot of people are UWSCing, daily Zaishen quests, daily Huntsman, and weekly Traveler.

To tell you the truth, GW is over populated right now. Tons of active people.

Yeah a lot of new content has been added since Nightfall. GWEN itself introduced A LOT of new gameplay with dungeons, new titles, skins, and pve skills. With the addition of Nicholas, daily Zaishen quests, and the pet menagerie there are plenty of reasons to pick up the game.

Unless you're a big pvp buff....that side of the game seems to have been neglected...

Dead ? No. Very far from it regardless of what you read. No new areas means more of the same really. Some new toys to keep us interested.

It's always fun to come back and have a play.

actually there are tons of reasons to come back. also its only repetitive if you make it so. You can always PvP do some farmin work on titles. the above post is just unhappy with their own position in GW.

if you like to pve with actual people, who aren't friends/guildies/alliance mates, good luck getting a group if you aren't a necro, monk, sin, or ele

Same here. Nothing has really changed much to be honest. PvP is still imbalanced and neglected. PvE is basically the same, just some re skinned stuff and a little better reward for the same old content.

I just came back from a 1+ year hiatus, and I have to say that the zaishen quests/bounties are probably the main thing keeping me playing, for now at least.

Basically you get rewards for doing certain tasks in-game, which encourages pugging and such at a certain location every day.

I don't want to say there is a ton of new content in GWEN, but if you've never played it you will be happily occupied for some time getting characters through the pve section and such.

Just need to set goals for yourself. Ultimately remember to have fun with the game. If you aren't having fun then you will be quitting the game again.

The game is mostly grind once you finished all campaigns unless you want to play through with another class. Hopefully they keep enough going to get the player base into GW2.

Definitely go and pick up EoTN....it gives you loads of fun stuff, like pve only skills, dungeons, more heroes. Totally worth the price tag.

The game is still populated with people so that really isn't a problem.Getting EoTN will probably spice it up for you =D

In my opinion..the pvp never gets old and i like playing around with builds and new characters. also theres been many skill buffs and such that could spark new interest.

Welcome Back to GW!

Well it depends on which outposts you're in, and which districts. Follow the daily Zaishen Quests whilst in American districts and you'll find relatively full outposts

True, when the ZQuests move on, said outposts empty rather quickly

The PvP sucks, and the PvE is just dull. Perhaps the only fun thing to come from after you left was the MOX quests, but since they were a one time per character thing, you can't even repeat them. The ZQuests are good for about two weeks, and then you start to notice how often they repeat (not just talking about the PvP quests). If you want to do Title Grind (a grind with no reward, other than a flash of text under your character) or speed clear UW all day, I'd say you should buy EotN.

To answer your initial question, Content-wise, GW is dead. Player wise, I am not sure though.

The game is just wearing down for me, not even new content will bring me back to the 2 hour-day status. (If I could find the time, I would play that long lol)

But I'm just looking for a new game to play, b/c I just finished my Red Alert3 game. I'm looking forward to figuring out a way around my budget restriction to pay for Aion, (wich has a nice paying contract, may I add. It works like phone minutes, you pay for x amount of dollars, and then get x amount of minutes. When those minutes are used, you are required to pay more. If you go on a hiatus for years, and then come back, and log in again, you still have those minutes to use. But, I got it from a guy I know who played the beta, or Korean/Chinease versions, so don't hold me to it, because it may change, but if not, I'm prob gunna pre-order >: D

Since you've already got an account, theres no reason why you can't jump back on and see if it still interests you. If you like it enough, keep playing and buy EotN later on if you want. If you don't, you only wasted a few hours.

Try going to the American Dis. its crowded there. Seriously though i couldnt see anything on the chat because of the Trade spam.
Anyway i dont get why some people are whining about GW saying its dead and they will quit or already did and still wandering around here posting about it. If this is not the place where we get to say "get a life" then where is it?
You obviously havent tried alot of MMO games (although Gw is partly MMO) cause you would know how balanced GW is compared to others. It's skill system is umatched by any other MMORPG system out there. Yeah there are some better builds but with soooo many skills this shit will happen anyway. Its impossible to achive complete balance. Get a hint already!
Most of the GW players see it as another MMORPG. If you want my advice go solo and play with others only when you realy need help with something or when you pvp. I see it as a classic single player RPG game with amazing storyline, awesome graphics that still rule, fun skill system and the best community out there. ... I mean which game has its own radio that gives you free stuff and plays the songs you like? Which game makes it possible to switch server with a button? Which game has a Mario Kart like minigame? Which online game as good as GW is FREE?
Closing GW is freaking alive, i havent seen it like that since god knows when. Theres alot of new stuff including filling the Hall Of Monuments to get ready for GW. The expansion is cheap as hell so give it a try.

I just started this year but yes, it's dead.

The only way this game will change is if they take ALL GW2 workers (except Izzy) off GW1 and work 24/7 on skill balances and fixes for 1 week and then publish the results WITHOUT DELAY.
