Default just how rare are greens?

I'd like to know just how hard it is to get a boss to drop a green, both in normal and in hard mode. I've played through prophecies, EOTN, and Nightfall so far, and the only greens i've ever seen were the end of campaign greens. I've ran Moteh Thundershooter (Harpy in Wilderness of Bahdza) trying to get Moteh's Lightning Spire 10-15 times in normal mode, but no luck.

I know that hard mode has increased chances of them, but while i feel that my character is doing well, there is no way that my heroes are in any shape to help me out too much in hard mode. Any help on how many runs it usually takes for this kind of thing?

drop rates vary - someone can be assed to point you in direction of wiki drop rate page would be helpful :P

but it can sometimes come down to blind luck - had a boss drop his green twice in a row in NM without wanting it but farming a boss in HM 30times and never getting her green >.< - I have bad luck though so ...

and there is no such thing as a rare green - just ones with a popular skin (bow of the kinslayer etc.) but there aen't any rare ones - just ones that require perseverance

good luck

OR just buy the one you want :P - less effort and time consuming

theres like a .000000001% DR of a green, it depends how easily farmed, what boss, if it's loot scaling, or not.

seems most lower-end greens are common.

i.e. yingko's claw

things like claws of the broodmother are very very common, to the point that they are worth about 500g. it depends on a bit of luck as well.

Several times I'd be playing with my firend and I call it if im gunna get it or not, and it worked like 3 times.
I remember farming Sorrows Furnace back in the day.. it was like 1/8 chance if your by yourself. times that by how ever henchies you have. and they each drop 3 greens. Soooo in NF it'd be 1/24 for each boss, and with a full party it'd be 1/192. So yeah those are the chances from information ive gathered from the public it may not be correct but I usually seem to get the green before 8 runs by myself so yeah.

I did a test some time back when I found a boss I could solo very easily.

In normal mode I got the green weapon to drop about one in five or six attempts.
Soon I had 28 of the darn things which sadly I couldnt sell so my dreams of easy money faded.

If you have factions you can try it out yourself Stsou Swiftscale is the boss and I can kill him and all his followers in a couple of minutes with a necro using a spitefull spirit build.

The whole mob are archers so you can hide behind the rocks and they are dumb enough to keep firing and kill themselves

That is not accurate. That would mean that the chance of a boss dropping a green is 1 in 100 billion attempts.

Actually, I believe most bosses in the game in HM have less than 3% drop rate on their greens. Assuming the average is closer to 1.5%, that would mean that on average, the boss will need to be killed close to 100 times in order to get him to drop his green.

So when you hear someone say they tried 30 times and never got a green, realize that that person hasn't tried hard enough if they really want his green.

When you hear someone say they tried twice and already got a green, realize that if that person tried another 50 times or so, they'd be lucky to get another.

Also keep in mind that heroes and henchies factor into the calculation. The program first calculates whether the item will drop, then computes who will receive it. When it would drop for Dunkoro, you don't get to see it. As far as you know, it just didn't drop.

So, after you grasp the math and the statistics, next you should realize that in general, greens are not going to get you rich. Despite the drop rates, greens are fairly common because players know exactly where to go to get them.

It depends on boss honestly. For instance compare Saevio's maul to Kephket's Refuge.

In NM keph drops doubles almost every 3 runs. Saevio's I killed him 74 times and got 2 greens.

I find HM does increase drop rate though, for me personally.

I've found that bosses drop about 10% of the time, BUT this drop might be spread across anyone in your party. So if you are killing a boss with a full party, you have about a 1/80 chance of getting the green.

Interesting. Drop rates must vary a great deal. My friends and I have been doing a lot of monk smiting, and all of us decided to use Scourgewind's Branch. Party of 4 humans, to get 5 of them we killed Scourgewind 26 times. 1st one came on 4th kill, last on the 24th. This was over a two day period (more people kept deciding they wanted one also.)

Yeah, I was farming Asterius Scythe with 2 heroes and the drop rate was about 1 scythe every 30 kills (yeah, not a very profitable farm but it got kind of addictive once I got the hang of his route).

I find the prices are more due to the fact that the boss can be killed solo every 2 minutes in HM and that there are so many people raptor farming. They also look bad and the mods are not the best either.

This is what I have seen as well. At one point I decided (just for the heck of it) to solo farm one elite tome of each profession. It took in average 30 rounds to get an elite tome, and I got about 3 greens for each tome. This would put the green drop rate at around 10% and elite tome drop rate at around 3%, both in HM of course, although I suspect that the green drop rate is the same in NM and HM alike and it's just the common/grape/gold rates that are modified for HM.

As Voodoo Rage points out, don't take herohench with you, the greedy b-tards steal loot!

bow of the kinslayer - that or sell it - got about 100k+10ectos for it which is pretty nice for a green - and the skin is sexy

each profession has a few sweet greens worth keeping - mallyx's axe (whatever its called - that dyed colour) is a nice one IMO

depends on the person really whether you like the skin or not...but things like BotK sell nicely if that is what you want from a green - otherwise just toss them on a hero

I keep all greens that aren't replicable, stonehart is imba o:, as well as skins that are pvp only (Willcrusher, Darkwing Wands, Ladle, Etc)

And honestly as an avid green farmer, I can't say they are all 1/10. I normally farm in HM unless i simply can't find a good build for it I do in NM, like I said earlier things like kephket's I get one at LEAST every 5 runs, other take me 20-30 times.

Hardest ones for me, timewise, were Saevio's, Galigord's Staff, and Staff of Ruin come to mind.

Lets be realistic about greens, they are not worthless, you cannot alter them it true but that is quite minor.

They all have perfect stats and if they have the stats you want they are every bit as good as the equivalent gold.

My necro has depended on Modti's deprevation and Nightbringer for some time.
I esp like weapons that give
+30 hp +30 hp
or HSR +20 and HCT +20 +20
and keep some with the +5 energy mod.
I could create golds to do that but its a lot of time and effort easier to get or buy a green.

Also when you have 14 characters like me that's a huge number of heroes to kit out, Greens and the free golds from NF treasure chests are ideal.
The rest get the bonus item Hourglass staffs.

I would say in nm green drop rates are higher and they do depend on a campaign. Of course it can be just me and it can be just pure luck factor but In EOTN nm I was able to get even 3 greens in a row and 7 in 30 tries (25% drop rate)! Try to ever get it in HM. I would say that possibility of a tome drop reduces the possibility of green drop thus difference between HM and NM. I also noticed that in Cantha greens drop much more rarely than in EOTN (around 5-10% difference). Examples of my tries:
- on Incetols focus (Cantha): 40 times in NM nothing. Dropped in HM after 59,
- Asterious scythe (eotn): 1st2nd3rd run in nm (so 3 in 3 first runs...). 15 runs in HM to get one, Claws of Broodmother (1 every 5 runs nm and 1 very 9 runs HM)
-Wandalz refuge (NF) got it in in 30 try on HM and not at all in 30 tries on NM however on NM I got 2 Sehdehs Masks and 1 Rizehs Wand which are the bosses on the way.

I think the raptor farmers and green farmers would know it all better than me but I would be inclined to say that nm is better to get greenies.
