Default Questions re Post searing cities

Been running around the post searing area and have more new player questions:

1. In 2 cities (so far) player class/lvl appear over toons -- but not ALL the cities. 1 such city is Fort R. Also, on the map these cities' icons blink. Why r they different? Does it have to do with PvP or ??

2. Also, is there anyplace to get a map of Post Searing world? I am lvl 10 and bored running around these really low lvl areas trying to find the cities and/or quests. I still have only 2 quests because I can't find anymore.

Thx for your help!

1.Some nodes on the map blink because like fort ranik they are missions that you haven't done yet. That's also the reason they have the levels above they're head so you can see their level and class so sorting a party is easier.

2.
Google works wonders

The main storyline quests will bring you to areas with new quests for you.

This contains areas to the North from the expansion Eye of the North as the map was extended a few months before it's launch.http://www.voidalliance.net/Screensh...mapGWtyria.jpg <-- New current map

TY so much for the map link! Bookmarked it already

I don't have any quests for the main storyline atm. Going to have to retrace my steps and see where i lost the link for it.

It still doesn't make sense to me that only *certain* cities do i see player info. Some cities, like Ascalon and the Sanitarium, i do NOT get this info.

When you enter a "blinking town" like Fort Ranik there will be a button on your party interface that says enter mission. There is no quest for the main mission just primary quests that lead you to towns with main missions. This is in Tyria (Prophecies).

Going along the story line, a primary quest will lead you to the next mission area (or, in some cases, the next primary quest). Once you reach a mission area (Great Northern Wall, Ft. Ranick, etc.), you'll see and "enter mission" button on your party window. Doing the mission will advance you in the story-line and take you to the next town/outpost where advancing will require either: A. pick up the next primary quest, or B. enter the next mission. (you'll know which by the "enter mission" button or lack thereof.)

You can only see the names and levels in Missions -http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cooperative_Mission
They're marked by a shield on the world map, and may have swords on them if you've completed them along with the bonus.

Missions are outposts that that bring you into an instanced area with a set objective/s Like Get to an area in that mission or kill someone and somehow deal with the story.
e.g. Fort Ranik,The Great Northern Wall and Ruins of Surmia.

Where as Sanitarium is an outpost and Ascalon is a Town ( Larger outpost with a greater diversity in NPC's s, Dye Trader, Material Trader etc.. and players.)
Outposts are recognized by nodes on the world map and towns by a bronze/gold icon with what appears to be a crown.

Also if you want to follow the story, you'll need to do the missions in the order
The Great Northern Wall > Fort Ranik > Ruins of Surmia

Completing each mission will drop you off either at the next mission outpost, or near to an NPC with the next primary quest to lead you to the next mission.

These particular outpost/towns are "Missions". The player class/level appears over peoples heads to help you choose teammates for the mission if you are forming a group. The icons blink to indicate that you haven't done the mission there yet.

The progression through Prophecies involves doing Primary quests and missions. You won't get to the next Primary quest until you done the next mission. In your case, it would seem that you need to do the Fort Ranik mission (if not the Great Northern Wall first). Here's a link to the storyline/mission progression - http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miss...ws_(Prophecies)

Often times, you will also need to complete a mission to get to the next area of the game where you can get more quests (Primary or non-primary).

You see player info in mission outposts, it is from those places you do missions.
They are different just because you do a certain mission from each mission outpost (which makes you progress in the storry, and take you away from the low level area).

As you progress in the storry, you'll find more quests.

As a side note, If you don't have a primary quest, I think you are ought to do the great northen wall (it'll be swords over the mission outposts that you've already completed).

TY all so much! I really can't believe how helpful y'all are and i am very grateful.

I did my first mission yesterday -- hadn't done any up to that point -- and now i *get* it. And I *do* try to go to wikis for info and i do read posts here each morning as well. But when I don't even know the word to apply (like "Mission") using the wiki doesn't work as well, lol.

I love missions! I spent all day yesterday looking for mission towns because that was the first time i had seen a purple item! So exciting - i turned into a loothound and bought keys and wow, i'm really enjoying this game.

I wouldn't recommend spending much money on keys. You won't turn a profit unless you get a lucky drop, and thats only on max damage, gold, high-end stuff. Right now all you're doing is flushing money down the toilet. You should save a lot of it to buy better armor later on.

Lol! It's only play money - flush away!

One of the fun things in GW, when you are new to the game and not old & jaded like some others, is opening chests to see what you might get. It could be a better weapon and/or mod, or armor with a useful rune/insignia. Like Christmas every day.

No, at this point in the game, you won't "turn a profit", but making a profit is not really what GW is about.

Of Note when keys get to be 600+ chests they open are considered High-End chests and count towards Treasure Hunter Title if your interested in that type of stuff.

Missions are usually the primary quest storylines (at least in Proph), and most of the time, when you finish one mission, it will take you to another; if it doesn't, you'll end up in a town somewhere and one of the npc's will have a quest that tells you where to go, which will eventually lead you on to the next mission.

And glad to hear you're enjoying GW
