Default got some questions

ive just started the trial so i have a lot of questions

im thinking about playing an elementalist, so i was wondering what i should put my skill points on?(fire,wind,etc). I was thinking probably mostly fire cause it'll do the most dmg. If you know any websites or links that have guilds for builds, post them. Also, what should my second class be? I thought necro would be good, but again, im new so i dont what what would be good or not.
If you think a different class would be better for me, please tell me/what second class should accompany them.

Other Various Questions:
I read somewhere that you can re-arrange your skills when you're in town, so does that mean i can take points off of fire and put it on wind, or are those perminant?

How exactly does finding a party/guild to do quest with work?

Which one of the campaigns is the best? I was thinking about getting prophacies first, then maybe nightfall.

First up, a valuable resource you should use to aid you with these types of questions are the official and unofficial wikis:-

Both of these have very useful starter guides.

Fire is indeed the most popular and probably would give a nice learning curve in playing the game gradually until you get to a higher level and the likes.

Secondaries are really a player's own preference, for eles popular are Mesmer (for echoing skills) and Monk (self heals, which are handy in early levels for someone new). Necromancer can be useful for earth elementalists (earth skills relying on conditions for example). But read up on the skills and see what you like before you commit. Remember though once you choose your secondary, you are stuck with it until much later in the campaign you selected. Then you can unlock other secondaries to use.

No they are not, you can customise your attributes at any time in any outpost/guild hall. Only when you leave an outpost and enter an explorable area/mission/combat area are they "locked".

You can either use heroes and/or henchmen (commonly referred as H/HH) to solo the quest/mission. Or you can use the party search function to look for other players. Both wikis explain this well.

Prophecies gives you the best learning curve tbh as it's quest/mission line gives the newcomer a good run but not too fast.
However, if you wish to get going faster, NF is better yes since heroes are there and give you a customisable set of buddies to take with you on your travels.

What's nice about GW is that you can respec your attribute points when you're in a town.

For the most part, fire is good, but there are times when you'll be fighting enemies that are resistant to fire so you want to go water. Or there will be areas where being an earth ele to support your team is better. In HM or in PvP you'll see a lot of air eles as lightning dmg has armor penetration. It's good to look at guildwiki before going into an area as the wiki entry on that area will talk about what types of enemies you'll meet.

If you go into a town or outpost and it has a mission, there will be a button under your party that allows you to go into the mission. Wow, I don't know quite how to explain this. Other areas, especially with primary quests you might see people seeking a party to go out with. Someone can probably explain this better for me.

As for which campaign is best? You'll get a lot of answers for that one. It's very subjective. I personally love Prophecies. I like the story line, I love the music, I like the variety of areas you travel through. But people will tell you that you will level the slowest. NF is a great campaign in my opinion until you get to the tormented lands. At that point, I really hated playing. Those later mission are drudgury and not fun, but then others will think they were. On the other hand, I hated Factions until I finally got to the point later in the game where you get to choose if you want to go with the Kurzicks or the Luxons. At that point, the game was interested. I abhored the big city with all its twisty narrow passages. It was very confusing. So if you have the funds, buy them all and play them.

Try joining a guild as well. Find a nice helpful guild who are willing to help and advice.

With help from guild mates you can learn stuff from them that it would take you months or years to discover or learn.

When it comes to which profession you should play? Play the one you like, don't be afraid of trying different professions and then delete them to see which ones you like the most. But as you're on a trial account, my adivce would be to continue with the ele.

Which campaign is best? I like Proph and NF, but all campaigns is good, really. Proph has the esiest learning curve, so start with it. Maybe go over a bit to NF once you've gotten to LA, just in order to get heroes (what are heroes? http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero)

They've pretty much covered the ele basics. But as for joining a party for quests/missions you can just type it in local chat when you are in the outpost. Alot of people use "LFG (the name of the mission)" to get a group. LFG means looking for group
Personally I wouldnt try to go with a party or group if you are just starting out. Grab some henchmen and get used to playing the game a little first.

And as the campaigns go, its just a matter of what you like to do really. I personally like Nightfall the best. You get heroes pretty quickly and the quests/missions are quite enjoyable. Plus you get two other professions to choice from.

That is your answer for basic knowledge of how an ele works. There is a basic guide stickied at the top of the ele subforum with single campaign builds to help your get the most out of your profession until you can access another campaign. It also discusses the secondaries pros and cons.
