Default Beginner Armor

Now I Know i have done this little trick before - someone told me it cannot be done anymore; but say I have a character named "zed" and I want the beginner armor for "zed" again (600) - now i make a new character with the name "ned" - and hey! i have a set of starter armor; but wait - i need this on "zed". Hmm. - so now i trade the armor and pay a-net $10 to change "Zed" to "Ned" (after deleting the original "ned") - I can equip the newly named "Ned" with the original ned's armor right?

I know you used to be able to do so, but since i heard you no longer can, i'm not sure i want to try if it's not gonna work. Anyone know?

No it can't be done. The armor is customized to a character number so to speak, and once that characters number is deleted, there is no way of getting another character with that number.
And as such, no way of equipping that characters equipment.

This little urban legend has been floated many times before and has been de-bunked repeatedly. If it had ever worked than it is clever but no it hasnt .

You could never do this and you still can't

The only reason I asked, is because i heard they changed it after i said i was going to do it (again) and yes, it does (or did) work. I had a seperate account where i had elite armor on my warrior, and didnt want to just throw it away, so before i gave the account to my son, i transferred the armor to my other account - deleted the warrior, added my warrior to the new account (same name as the old one) and the armor equipped just fine. As a matter-of-fact - i still have the same armor i transferred; although maybe only proveable with a-net's help, this was still done. This was the only time i had tried this, and it has been slightly over a year since i have done this, so I thought it reasonable to ask first.

^This.

There is a unique code for each character. Anything that is customized / crafted for a particular player character cannot be used by another player character.

im pretty sure this never worked, nor does it work now, the armor isn't customized per the name or the character, rather to the character's code, thus it wont work.

You did not ever do this. The armor isn't tied to the character name but to the characters ID number which is different with every character, whether or not you delete and create it again with the same name.

I hate to be critical but I seriously doubt you know for sure that they didn't do that. It could of been some kind of glitch or something. At any rate the question has been answered, no need to flame about whether the OP is telling the truth or not.

Since i've played since before day 1, I can say with absolute certainty, that unless a bug was involved, no, what the OP stated has never ever ever ever ever worked
