Well I think I did something dumb.

I wonder if I can be reported and banned for saying the "F word" in chat and for how long, thanks.

Well yeh you could be reported for it if someone actually bothered to, i see it commonly, or did whilst playing, haven't for a while now anyway.

The take it'l take for you to get banned would be the time it takes the carebears to read the report.

I'm not sure how long you could get banned for but it would be permanent so not much to worry about.

Possibly usually they say you have to swear multiple times and then it's only a temporary ban I wouldn't worry

maybe, its always possible, but it wont be a long ban and definitely not a perma ban, usually i see swearing a lot and its common enough that most people dont report it.

Thanks guys that's helpful. What a relief.

I play for a long time and I was never banned. It's just that today someone was really provoking me all the match and I didn't resist and sweared.

Lol don't worry about it. I swear all the time. The only time I got a ban was when I was in a bad mood and took it out on this guy who pissed me off in RA. Even then, it was only a 3 day ban. People rarely screenshot swearing and report it so no worries.

Yeah for just regular cursing you should NEVER get banned for because of the fact there is a language filter. If you happened to go off on someone and use a lot of f bombs or racial slurs then I would be expecting a ban but not just for cussing in general.

You have to ignore those sorts of people, and if you ignore some of them long enough they will get pissed and curse at you giving you the chance to report them which is better than cursing them out.

Yeah, because we all know there has never been someone banned for foul language because of the language filter...

Don't worry about it overly much. Worst that will happen is a temp ban unless you are some sort of expletive spewing person who gets reported every day.

Probably nothing at all will happen.

All I'm saying is that there is a difference between:

"Well he was an ass"

and

"YOU BULL $!#@[email protected] $@#$!@"

see what I'm talking about?

i got a 3 day (My one and only ban) for saying 'F*** You' in a pug uwsc. The dude was totally ignorant and imho deserved more, but i said it once and left it at that. within the hour i was hit by a 3 day...

So, while general cussing may be tolerated, it seems a directed curse is a serious no no

I got banned for pinging a ****ed cleric while near temple of the ages.

Sad thing was I was only hero/henchman - I think Alesia is a too bit sensitive.

ncsoft general support is 1 of the worst things about this game. apparently this game is designed for sheltered 10 year olds with virgin eyes (even though there is a T on the box)

you can and most likely will get banned if someone reports you for saying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO

it doesnt matter that theres a chat filter (which is really odd dont you think?), it doesnt matter that it wasn't directed at anyone, and it doesnt matter if it's grammatically correct in its usage...ncsoft support just flat out doesn't care.

next time you wanna "use offensive language" in all chat be careful. even if the outpost is practically empty you never know what dickwad is waiting to /report you. and have fun dealing with general support (<3 to tech support tho)

No matter if there is a language filter or not, you can still be banned for swearing amongst other players. Although it's rare to be banned for swearing even if it is reported, I think it really depends on the severity. Like...dropping the N word even casually will undoubtedly lead to a ban.

As for your case, just wait and see I guess, but chances are in your favor you won't be banned.

I have to say, the only reason that you would be banned for swearing is if the moderators feel like you were abusing him and therefore slap you a temporary ban.
But they actually use an accumulating system, where you don't get banned for just 1 incident and actually a collection of times where you swore or "abused" players. So if you said f you to a pug in UWSC and got banned, it probaby wasn't just that :P

I was temporarily banned for 3 days a while ago for spamming and abusing.
I was subsequently perma-banned because they deemed my spamming as against the EULA. Why? because i was pretending to sell my armour for runescape money. Someone reported me for being mean to him but i was banned because they thought i was being serious... It astonished me how simply advertising, even for a joke, they perma banned me. from a screenshot!

they didn't even bother to check trade openings...

But yeah, I contacted support. took them a day but they apologized and gave me my account back.... With another 3 day ban...

Right... saying.. F.U. Donkey can be a serious no no. or saying "You F'er you zoned before I could pick up that BLACK DYE!!!

Now, saying, "I f'ing lost connection as I was running towards my ECTO!! Darnit it. Friggen internet provider piece of rabbit droppings." Might have a different "feel" to it.

IF someone starts swearing at me, I whisper them, if they whisper back with more profanity I ignore them. If they take it back to All chat then I put in a request for a ban.

I then remove the Ignored status and add them as a friend and then watch as they get..well...you know.
