Default Hall of Monuments

Hi,

I heard someone mention that Titles you can put in the Hall can be brought into GW2, is this true?
Lots of friends are trying to get r8 in Heroes Ascent as they feel it will be useful in GW2 PvP.

Thanks,
Dave

Anet has no explicitly stated exaclty what connection the HoM will have to GW2.

They have said that titles/achievements in the HoM would give "rewards" in gw2.

However, anet wont give rewards that place those players higher than starting players, so getting r8 will probably not help you in anyway.

My thinking and thinking of others is that
Titles in HoM get you a title or titles in GW2
Minis in HoM get you a mini or minis in GW2
Wps-> weps
Etc

Knowing anet, i doubt the "rare"ness of mini/titles/weps will affect the reward but it may.

Overall, the HoM/GW2 transition is just to show that you are a Guild Wars "veteran" when you are playing GW2. However, gw2 is so so so different from GW1 that being good in GW1 proves nothing when playing GW2.

Hope this helped

A-Net has said that the rewards given out in GW2 for GW1 accomplishments will not give players an advantage over other players. The conventional thinking, as shown in every other thread regarding this same question is that GW2 rewards will be most likely be cosmetic only (unique weapon skins, etc.)

Yet it's all speculation, but right now from what we know only HoM accomplishments (statues) are applied to gw2, not the rank you grind them.

I doubt it'd translate directly, i.e, weapons become weapons, etc. Perhaps the amount/quality of stuff you have in your HoM will be assigned some sort of score/points, which will allow you to unlock minipets of your GW1 chars, cosmetic headgear, etc. Anet hasn't actually said anything so this is all speculation. Anything could happen.

And, from experience, any special skins etc will be customized to your character. So don't plan on becoming rich by selling them.

As in previous post above,It will not make you aymore skillfull asthink of the broad picture here.

Lets assume (as everything is speculation at moment)

What good will your tormented wepon be if they gave you it.....as your max level in GW1 is 20........they have not decided a cap yet so it will be more than 20. so your damage will only suffice to that level only

Next point your armour ....same again your max is 20 level cap is more so it will do you up to that level only.

Just a few point to keep the discussion moving along

No one knows what you'll be getting in GW2 so there is no discussion. It would make sense for balance purposes that you'll get no advantage over a player without a HoM.

Thanks for all your replies.

I was under the impression that other people could know your, say HA rank, from the previous game, but as you say they dont want anyone at a disadvantage.

It may be possible (and is likely) that people could know, by a title or something, in GW2, what your HA rank was in GW, but that would be about as useful as knowing what your Raid level was in WoW.
Knowing your previous ranks will have no advantage or disadvantage in GW2.

While I agree with you in principle, your logic is flawed. Levels are not fixed units of known quantity. There is nothing to say that a level 50 weapon in GW2 couldn't have the same stats as a level 20 version in GW1 or any other game. Levels are only relative quantities within the particular game they are used in.

Just to quote a recent interview also

If you???re currently a fan of Guild Wars, and debating whether or not to "jump ship," as it were, to Guild Wars 2, the ArenaNet boys have included a little incentive for you, via the Hall of Monuments in the latest Guild Wars expansion, Eye of the North. It goes like this: when you accomplish something great in Guild Wars???maybe you finished a particularly gnarly quest???a monument is erected in honor of the event in the Hall of Monuments. The Hall carries over into Guild Wars 2, and all the greatness you achieved will still be on display, despite the fact that the action of the game takes place several hundred years after the first GW. This is about more than just bragging rights, though. Thanks to your efforts in GW, your character in GW2???the descendant of your GW character???will have access to exclusive titles, companions, pets, armor, and weapons. None of the unlockable content will give you a huge edge over other players, but it will provide you with a nice badge of honor that brands you as an Old School Guild Wars pro and personalizes the gameplay for you just that little bit more. Personally, I think something that nods to the old fans without screwing the new ones is a great idea.

MAXED HOM = MAX NUMBER OF DISPLAYABLE ITEMS ON SPECIFIC MONUMENT. Reason i say this is becasue Anet would not make you get every thing in each monument because u cant. For example the Mini pet. Every GW player cant have every mini pet because only a few hundred were realsed. Also for PVP titles which are supposed to be More difficult to get than PVE ones in terms of time and skill, they place ranks within the titles that will be accptable. For example Hero rank=8 for monument not r15.
