Default How to acquire green weapons?

I know that green items are from bosses but I have fought many and none has ever dropped any items with green lettering. Are their drop rate really low?

1) Only certain bosses drop greens. In Factions and Nightfall, most do, even a few low level bosses. In Prophecies, only the bosses in Sorrow's Furnace do.
2) Yes, the drop rate is low, even if you're solo. With a full group, they drop somewhat rarely. You're better off buying them. They're fairly cheap nowadays anyway.

EDIT regarding 1): There are also some odd green drops in Prophecies.

Nope, there are a lot more than just Sorrow's Furnace in Prophecies.

Yes, drop rate is low. Though some are easier to get than others with a full party. If you look up a specific green on one of the wiki pages you will often find that it is possible to duplicate everything but the appearance and sometimes even that using pieces and parts.

Farming greens is sometimes possible. But given the time and trouble involved, Marty is correct that just buying it is a lot cheaper in the long run.

If you are playing with heroes and henchmen they will 'steal' drops as well.....if you want a specific green weapon sometimes it is better to solo that boss---(or you can always buy it from another player---some are pretty cheap now).

Don't forget you can also get a choice of a green weapon of your choosing after you beat any campaign.

At the end of any campaign, you are given a token that you can use to get any green weapon of your choice from the npcs or chests at the end area. You can only get one item per character per campaign though.

But yes, green "boss" weapons are random drops with low drop rates. Most are cheap and will cost you barely 2-3k at most so ask around for the one you want. Otherwise, gather some patience and good farm build and kill that boss enough times that he just hands it over the next time you see him.

I have spent a lot of time hunting green weapons and "for me at least" some just don't want to drop.
I am pretty sure the drop rate is constant and just random chance but it does seem as though I am jinxed for some.

Kephet likes me I get that green pretty often sometimes twice in one run.
Am pretty lucky with bows too.
Chkkrs Flatbow and Swiftscales shortbow drop all the time too np.
However the bosses in Arborstone definitely hate me those have never dropped.

I would say if the boss is a long way off or the path to him difficult and time consuming, then buy the item of a player.
You can solo a boss many times before you get lucky the examples I gave are really close to towns and you can do a lot of runs in a fairly short time.

u have to keep in mind that you are sharing ur drops with ur party. so after the low drop chance from the boss, u still only have a 1/8 chance because of ur party members. u can also get greens from dungeon chests.

I've killed Alem the Unclean at least 300 times in SS/LB runs, but never dropped his green. I had to buy it for my ritualist

When I finally did the Villainy of Galrath quest, after I finally got there and only Galrath was left, I flagged my henchmen on the other side of the hill and solo'ed him just for fun. If I were to do the same to a boss, clear his entourage, run away, flag henchmen, come back and solo boss, does that guarantee me whatever he drops ?

No. You'll have a better chance, but there's no guarantee.

If the rest of the party is so far away that their names are grayed out in the party list while you solo the boss, you will get anything the boss drops except for cash. Cash will still be shared among all party members as usual, even if they are flagged out of range. Of course, this procedure does not guarantee that a boss will drop his green. It just guarantees that if the green does drop, it will be assigned to you.

Except that Galrath doesn't even have a green to drop, but yes, it would be assigned to you if it did drop.
