Default Facing Dhuum in HM

Hello Guru community!

I have a question about... well what the title says . Me and many of our guild have beaten UW together many times, so we have a very good knowledge of it. One thing we would like to do though, is beat it in HM because we have not been able to. I have no doubts that we can get to Dhuum easily, but usually some small fluke happens that ends up in a reaper death. Anyway, my question is directed toward the Dhuum battle itself because that is where I am unsure we can do it.

I am asking this because I have been told by people that they are not sure the Dhuum fight is possible without an E/Mo bonder. But it makes me wonder, why would there be a boss that is only beatable by one build? So I know without a doubt that it is possible, but we do not want to use a Prot Bonder. Is there any advice you guys can offer us as far as mitigating damage? We do not want to bring an Imbagon either, but the main question I am asking is this: Is Dhuum possible to beat in Hard Mode without a Prot Bonder? As I said, I am certain that he is, but I have never seen it. So if anyone can offer insight that would be great

It is, just very hard. What we did when our Emo died (Literally 30 seconds into Dhuum) everyone had a lot of Res Scrolls, and we all went ghostly. Then we simply ran around with a cupcake, and encased all the minions. We had 1 person focus on encasing, and everyone else focus on healing and spamming 1. By the time he bar was almost full, we simply kept encasing and the switched over to 5. It did take quite a while to do, but that is how we handled it.

When I did it sometime ago I used signet of sorrow. I was clicking for a good 10 mins but I finally got him in the end. Not sure if this method still works, it should unless they fixed it or something.

You sure you're talking about Dhuum and not Duncan the Black?

Yes it is possible to beat Dhuum without a prot bonder. In fact on the evening Dhuum first came out, we did a few runs without prot bond and we all had speed clear type builds. Basically, once you are all turned in to ghosts you have to rely on your ghost skills to survive. We just healed/removed DP from the person above us in party, and all spammed heals on whoever got judgement. It took a while, but we muddled through it with a very unprepared party.

A couple things that come to mind for a balanced group attempting Dhuum without prot bond:
-decent monks and/or
-imbagon and/or
-Soul twist rit

Good luck

It's doable with everyone ghostly, but hairy.
I'd imagine it should be doable with a Soul Twisting rit pumping out Shelter and Dislocation.
Almost any healer at all should be able to manage if you Earthbind Dhuum and keep GDW on a couple of physicals.
For that matter, I'd suggest SY! in any event.

Your guild really needs to give up "if it's a gimmick, it's elitist" when generally good builds have some sort of synergy with itself or other players. You're not doing yourselves or the people you play with a favor with that. Not saying you should or shouldn't speed clear, of course.

Based on these responses, I can't say I have seen an answer to my question. I saw one person say it is possible, but he said his bonder died on Dhuum, insinuating that they used on to get there, and another said it was when using speed clear builds. That isn't our thing, balanced teams are how we roll . Let me try asking THIS question, has anyone beaten the Underworld in HM without taking a Prot Bonder down there at all? This question should give more helpful responses.

There was one response however, that did help, Chthon, you said with everyone as a Ghost it was possible, but with how much damage Dhuum causes with his Judgment attack, won't that wipe the party? That is my concern with doing that, even with an Armor of Salvation won't it still do enough damage to take the party down? I am not sure of course, but I am willing to try it.
